If Tevez goes...

Under Mancini, goal machine Hernan Crespo was sold from Lazio and the bankers in charge of the club happily gave him 'top striker' Corradi in his place. He still took them to the CL. I don't care what Mourinho has done with your Drogba's and your Ronaldo's, find me a man who can get to the CL with Corradi as his main striker and I'll show you a great manager :)

I'm not talking about Corradi's ability as a striker. I'm talking about the job he did at City. He was one of the worst strikers I've ever seen in a Blue shirt. He scored three goals in one season and Tevez couldn't be replaced by a man like that regardless of how fun his goal celebrations with Joey Barton were.

Massively overrated, he'd do well to even get on our bench.

Still over-rated?

While I agree that he looks to be a great player, youtube clips are hardly proof. i remember a certain greek who looked great on youtube. ill give you a hint, his name rhymed with cameras..

If we didn't get CL football we're quite simply not getting anyone as good to replace him. If we do watch the bloody floodgates open. Almost no-one will be out of reach.

I think we all know the pitfalls of using YouTube to judge a player.

Would be gutted to lose tevez, as he has been brilliant, but if he did go the team will go on, and another quality player will take his place. If Tevez goes, we would probably buy anther top draw striker, but I think the shape of the team would change, and the new striker would not necessarily be of the same type as tevez.

I would also say (I know all the jokes ect) a forward or attacking player with a massive amount of pace.

I really dislike the guy; I think he's greedy, he never works for the team (but for himself) and runs around a lot which impresses the fans. I think when he looks back on his career, he will never look at City like a Rosler or Goater would do, despite how much he is worshipped; whereas a Dzeko, Balo or Silva could possibly do so.

However, there's not a better false nine in world football, anything else would be a step down. If we sold him for a high amount of cash, that might be worth it.

As much as I love to watch him and see the goals he scores, I don't think he fits well into our system and is occupying the space where we need a play-maker (who will make goals), so perhaps we'll not miss him as much as we think if a creative midfielder takes his place. Perhaps Michael Johnson will be fit by then?

Tevez reminds me very much of the situation we had when Marsh was introduced. He didn't help us, for all his quality.

This might sound crazy (I'm not even convinced myself) but I think Tevez going will improve us. Despite his goals, which is what is making this sound stupid, his overall play and "ball hogging" really does slow things up sometimes.

We need blistering pace.

Edit: Remoh I wasn't around when we bought Marsh but from books and footage I agree it sounds like a similar scenario.

Balotelli and Dzeko would do the job, I'd rather we just bought a good young understudy. A Lukaku or a Neymar. Or maybe Guidetti would get more of a chance.

If we were to go for a more proven replacement, I'd have any of Llorente, Rossi, Aguero, Muller, Lavezzi, Pato or an ageing Drogba or Anelka (either of those two'd have to be cheap, mind).

Not fussy then ;o)

I agree with you in the long run, but for this season he remains our talisman so we should use whatever team utilizes his skills to get us into the top 4. Sort the rest out in the summer.
