If the season ended now...

I think most posters would agree that in general I make more sense than the hierarchy of the FA. Therefore in my wisdom I have decided to settle this by using the "Ashes" as an example.

We won the League, We are the Champions therefore we hold the "Ashes" and the Chavs haven't done enough to take them off us.

I am Seriously thinking of asking the Mods to organise a Rawk/Mickey style parade to celebrate this.

Playoff at the Swamp

We could piss both Chelski and the rags off at the same time

According to the Telegraph it would be behind closed doors.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/11320967/Why-are-Chelsea-top-of-the-Premier-League-above-Manchester-City.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -City.html</a>
.

No they don't say that- I think they may have edited it to stop the gullible falling for it:)....

After 20 games of the Premier League season, things could not be tighter at the top of the table.

After the dramatic games on New Year's Day – which saw Chelsea defeated 5-3 at London rivals Tottenham and Manchester United scramble a late 3-2 win over Sunderland – the two title rivals are neck and neck at the league summit.

In fact, they could not be any closer. Chelsea and City have absolutely identical records, having the same number of points, the same goal difference and the same number of goals scored. It means that, for the time being, Chelsea are leading the table on alphabetical order alone.

It all begs the question – just what would happen if the two teams were locked together with identical records at the end of the season?

The answer is that they would be forced to play a one-off game on neutral territory to determine the fate of the league championship.

The Premier League rulebook states: "If at the end of the Season either the League Champions or the Clubs to be relegated or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because 2 or more Clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the Clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding League Matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board."

English football has never staged a league play-off of that kind before – maybe this year will see the first?

Well if United scrambled that 3-2 win then I've been disillusioned all these years because I thought I was watching City and today I saw them make a great job of beating Sunderland!!!

It was definitely edited.

As if a game of this magnitude would be held behind closed doors! There are millions and millions to be made from it so rest assured it would be at wembley and beamed around the world. If it ever happened of course. Chances must be absolutely minute.

The name makes no difference, just the media can't understand two teams having the same position.

a play off somewhere hot.

Apparently the play off final will be at either Ewan Fields Hyde or Bower Fold, Stalybridge.

I understand the weather can be quite nice in Tameside in May.
it would be the only thing nice there then. ever.
