Certainly old enough to not be labelled a spoilt brat.

It won't be a case of underachieved, more outright failure.

We can put whatever gloss you care to put on things.

But the fact is, this present Premier League set-up is the weakest it has been in years.

We failed to take advantage, based on our outlay and the nucleus of supposedly decent talent we has last season.

Liverpool have been woeful, Everton took an age to get up to speed, yet we lack the current conviction and mindset to push us on.

The team that lost against United had only one player, Nedum, who had been at the club more than 14 months. Throw in a manager of three months and you get the picture. This side would be far better next year without any additions. Throw in a couple of well chosen buys and well who knows.

You're joking, right?

This team needs additions in at least four spots.

Although your reference to time is a valid one, it is an illusion, and excuse that too many people on here are happy to find.

Giggs, Scholes, Neville, admittedly, they have the years. But there is no way they should be getting the PHYSICAL advantage over players a lot younger and supposedly a lot hungrier.

Mancini came into this job with him insisting there should be no excuses (for which, he deserves credit)

Three months or not, he will have come up short. Redknapp has been at Spuds less than 14 months.

In fact, he took over last season when they were bottom, yet still they finished higher than us.

I also dont really buy the argument that the quality of the league is dramatically worse than it has been in the past and that you've missed some huge opportunity on that front because the quality required to get 4th hasn't been as high as last year.

OK the teams competing for 4th may have changed but if you look at the possible points tallies come the end of the season its likely that there'll be no real difference from the final points required to finish 4th last year.

Hope you stick around, I don't mind rags with decent comments ;-)

Instead of dippers/arsenal and blue scouse fighting for 4th it's us and spurs (with Villa and dippers on an outside chance). The top 3 are the usual, I think for most City fans we believed spurs would never sustain their run-in to 4th, probably most fans other than spurs ones thought the same!!

dont worry, I'll start being a **** again soon....

To be honest, this sort of argument happens in relation to Utd aswell and it pisses me right off....

After the amount of time City have spent without any success how can any of your supporters not be satisfied with a top 5 finish and the obvious progress you're making? Its incredibly short sighted.

Its similar to the sort of guys Utd supporters have to put up with, the ones who think finishing 2nd is an underachievement/disaster for us in a year following the loss of Tevez and Ronaldo.

It's a great point about how long Redknapp has been in the job at Spurs. And one that I made last May to some of the guys I go to the match with.

It didn't put Hughes in a very good light when Spurs finish higher and Redknapp had less time in the job than Hughes. Even West Ham finished above us.

If we don't make 4th, there's no doubt we'll be looking back at that run of 1 win in 10 matches.

Finishing 5th would be annoying but we'd all get over it and it would give us another decent chance at some silverware next season by winning the Europa league

Redknapp is a rich man's Keegan - comes in, spends, fires the players up, cheepy chappy confidence building - his teams over perform for a time then gradually go back to mediocrity or worse when they grow used his cockney banter or when he perceives he gets let down or slighted in some way by the club. He's not a long term manager with vision - this will be their best season under him.

if we got 5th..would the players we want in summer see that as progress and join.or would they hang back and wait to we get in the CL

That is my ONLY worry if we dont get 4th! Plus whoever does get 4th be it Spurs, Liverpool or Villa would be strengthen with the extra cash it brings in!!

4th is needed to attract that next group of quality players

if we get 5th we could lose some of those players i.e adebayor tevez
