Because they won the Champions League and netted a nice 50million for that alone.
Because they earn more than we do.
Because their squad is aging and they've let their number one striker go... meaning they need to feed Torres big time now.

Maintaining the 'happy camp' in the squad at City is tricky enough - we can't just go headlong into buying yet more big names, without getting rid of some players first.
