hughes improved our squad with every transfer window he had, he did a good job under the circumstanses, just wasnt tactically good enough to mould the players into a unit.

We would have been touch and go for Europa league (I suspect we would have missed out) and I doubt we would have beaten the rags in teh LC semi under a manager that failed to get a win in the last 3 matches he played against them.

We could well have had our first trophy for 34 years, but we will never know. One thing for sure though is Mr Mancini's team, (HIS team), is starting to look like it is gelling well. Expect a hiccup maybe as Mario gets into the team, having said that though if Jo can play like he did on Sunday, Balotelli should be more than capable of slotting in just perfectly. As I say though, to answer the OP we could well have had our first trophy if Hughes had stayed, but its history now.

I expect we would be doing pretty well, the money we've got and it's harder to go backwards than forwards.

Probably a few more of the Upson/Bentley types than the Boateng/Kolarov types.

I'm happy we've made the change, but with our resources I suspect even the worse manager will eventually bring us success.

And in the spirit of goodwill, I don't think our former manager is anywhere the worst manager going around.
