If we never sacked Hughes

I think Hughes gets a hard time on here, and yes, Jo and Cruz etc were unmitigated disasters, but at the same time, we were literally just starting out on this journey, had money but not so much pulling power for the very big stars, and we were in a hurry too. We made mistakes (but we're still doing that now - Bony's been no better than Jo!)

Plus, there were some real hit signings too - Zab, Kompany, Bellamy, Given, Barry, Lescott, Toure and Tevez, and even Adebayour had his moments.

We'll never know what would have transpired had Hughes stayed, but we have moved onwards and upwards regardless. I like the guy, and have no grudges with him.

We were never going to get the level of player we needed with Hughes never mind tactics and trophies. We defended 100% better in Mancini's first game.

Spot on post and you can add Nigel De Jong to the list. Zab and Kompany are City legends signed by Hughes.

He took us forward but maybe a bigger name Mancini, was needed to get Silva, Aguerro and Yaya. However, Hughes signing Kolo certainly made it easier for us to get Yaya. He certainly played a key role in the progression of this club. He showed passion on the touch line and fought tooth and nail for the club. I am grateful for the role that he played.

Anyone who wants to know where we would be should take a look at some of the 'defending' we did under Hughes and then watch Mancini's first game - Mancini made the team better within a week.

He's found his level, he's not a particularly good manager and I think it's safe to say that we would not have come close to winning the league with him. He had us in the relegation zone in his first season!
