If you could reopen 1 bar/pub in town which 1 would it be ?

Is Mister Smith's still open

I was arrested in there one lunchtime in 1970 - they had topless barmaids, but you could only go in if you were eating a meal, and me and my work colleague were only drinking!

Had to pay a fine and was barred (by the police for 3 months) LOL

Crazy days back then, particularly as I was only 17 at the time LOL LOL

The land of cakes had to be the best pub in town
had some good times in the king as well

The Hac was unbelievable up until it re opened first time, after that it went absolutely shite and I would'nt want to see it back. For me it would have to be The Boardwalk or The Gallery.

I just missed out on The Hac first time around but experienced it alot after re-opening and it was very average (bar the Oasis gig in there in 1994 which was amazing) so it would have to be The Boardwalk for me, more specifically for Yellow. What a night.

A few good memories in this thread. Tommy Ducks, Brahms & Liszt, Cox's Bar, Pips. Tommy's was my favourite closely followed by B&L.

A few more names - Paddy's Goose on Bloom St, Oscars on Fountain Street, Millionaires Club behind Lewis's, Coach & Horses just off Aytoun Street, White Hart on Fairfield St (next to Placemate).

Good site here for reminiscing http://pubs-of-manchester.blogspot.com/
