In the King's Head, waiting for the Queen's legs t
and there were no obstructions for it to hit, would it eventually just make a steady descent to the floor when it loses all its speed? I wonder then if thats the case, if there's anyone stupid enough to stand at the point the bullet lands, and see if the second bullet does the exact same thing.

Its a slow work day today, my friends.

;)

Oi, go stand over there near that sand dune and I will get Pige an answer ;-)

If you fire it flat (horizontally) or up in the air, the bullet will take the same time to reach the ground... How far it'll go I don't know, but you could work it out if you knew the velocity.

Newton's Third Law and all that. Eventually a combination of friction (from the air) and gravity would cause it to fall. Where the second one fell would depend on the angle it was fired at and the explosive charge in the bullet. Also, there would be some wear in the gun barrel, which might make it ever so slightly less efficient.

I'm just reading Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything" and there's somefascinating scientific stuff in there.

It's a bit like, If a tree falls and hits a woman.....

Why've you got a forest in the kitchen?

As for your question, i have wondered this myself. If you were thousands of feet above sea level, It would obviously carry on going until it went all around the world and hit you in the back of the head. Sure fire way of commiting suicide, over a period of a few hours. The positive is, you can change your mind and simply step a few feet to the left. Then if you feel down again, take a few steps to the right. The bullet will be picking up speed from going round in a giant circle, so the longer you leave it, the more dead you will be. Trust me, i got a B in science so i know a thing or two.
