If you fired a bullet in a desert...

Newton's Third Law and all that. Eventually a combination of friction (from the air) and gravity would cause it to fall. Where the second one fell would depend on the angle it was fired at and the explosive charge in the bullet. Also, there would be some wear in the gun barrel, which might make it ever so slightly less efficient.

I'm just reading Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything" and there's somefascinating scientific stuff in there.

One of the best things I've ever read... Highly recommended.

-- Fri Nov 05, 2010 3:16 pm --

If u fired the bullet and dropped one at the same time from the same height theyd hit the ground at the same time

Should've added that... Not that long then.

Read that a while back, good bok but he doesnt mention hoverboards at all?

All Bryson's books make great reading, not read one yet that has been a dissapointment.

The wind would have to remain constant for it to fall near the same place, probably also require the exact same amount of gun powder in the casing, but no I wouldn't stand around to find out :)

It's a bit like, If a tree falls and hits a woman.....

Why've you got a forest in the kitchen?

As for your question, i have wondered this myself. If you were thousands of feet above sea level, It would obviously carry on going until it went all around the world and hit you in the back of the head. Sure fire way of commiting suicide, over a period of a few hours. The positive is, you can change your mind and simply step a few feet to the left. Then if you feel down again, take a few steps to the right. The bullet will be picking up speed from going round in a giant circle, so the longer you leave it, the more dead you will be. Trust me, i got a B in science so i know a thing or two.

The only way you could get a B in Science was if you spelt it Sbience.

Pig that is freaky as fook, I was only thinking the very same thing this morning!!

How random is that!?!?!?
