Ilkay Gundogan - 2018/19 performances

Really not as bad as some are making out. Not great though. Was weak in the first half but massively upped the ante in the 2nd half. He did a decent amount defensively too. He gets about better than most and at the end of the day it was him that put in the ball for the goal.

I noticed he was going for a few of those give and gos with David Silva today. But they didn't pay off because for some reason David Silva was a second and a half behind play today. It'll come.
 
The stats don't lie.

We don't win enough when he plays.

Contributes absolutely nothing that any other player in that team could add and I'd much rather see him on the bench than sat next to Fernandinho on the pitch, it just doesn't work.
 
Why do we always need a player to have a go at? Does my head in. He had a decent game on a relatively poor day for the team.

He's to City fans what Sterling is for England fans with how he's rated. Unfortunately if it bothers you, just as it does when Sterling gets it from England fans, you're not going to achieve much luck in changing anyone's mind over it. Just appreciate that you appreciate him. Sift through the OTT criticism and look out for the constructive criticism. That's what I'm doing.

Exactly. To be honest, I'd have Foden ahead of Gundogan but won't happen obviously. Gundogan simply doesn't do enough over 90 minutes overall. Good moments here and there but not enough, its almost always like that with him. Every player can have bad game obviously but these kinds of performances from Gundogan is the norm.

If Barca were offering £50m for him as was rumoured, should have taken it for sure.
 
just doesn't control a game enough and leaves us defensively weaker...its not a coincidence that we lose more games when he plays

I know its not a starting 11 anymore but he gets nowhere near our best 11....
 
Gundogan is peps favourite and thought he did ok today and that’s the problem he is ok player. Foden needs to come in for him after 60 mins or start to see what he can do because for me Foden is far more positive player.
