They've made their bed - by all accounts letting Gundo come to us for free still isn't enough for them to register Olmo.
Turning into the Spanish Chelsea - trouble is there aren't enough clubs to take advantage.

Just seen Gundo the old man never played more minutes in his career than last season in Barcelona: 4,180! ... (21/22: 3,022 -- 22/23: 3,856)

No wonder he said he was a bit tired before the EURO even started...

Could be, he gets much more minutes than just some here and there...

Maybe the air gets thinner now for Nunes, who actually is too good to sit mainly on the bench (bit similar to Julian, only that Nunes by far is not as ambitious, as it seems).

Yes fully understand the position you are coming from and understand it’s not a slight on Gundogan in any way.

I’m sure the club probably expected to fill the position much easier but as you have highlighted with Guimaraes, it probably indicates that the club does not see value in the market for players In this position.

Gundogan coming in gives us a bit of breathing space to find the next player to fill the role and is ready made to step in, which obviously Phillips and Nunes have struggled to deliver. Additionally the money remains in the kitty to strengthen if required in January based on possible injuries etc.

Yeah it's definitely a wise move and making the best of the situation.
