A very classy man on and off the field. I hope he has a good final couple of years at a decent level (well kind of in Turkey)

Was key to a lot of our successes and although didn't get to previous heights last year was always there to try and Do his best for the club.

That game where he scored two goals against Villa to seal the title was one of my favourite memories of our dominance, when we fought to the end.

His first spell with us he was outstanding and instrumental in all the trophies. Hope he enjoys Turkey and does well at Galatasaray.

Absolute hero. Admired how he handled himself last year too. Clearly came back to be a squad player and provide strength in depth but found himself having to play a tonne more than expected and in a less advanced role due to injuries and other players simply being shit. Was asked too much of at times but never complained. Had a shit start to life at city with a year long injury and being played out of position (he never was a DM), but stuck it out to become a vital, undroppable and unplayable midfielder. Thank you Ilkay - legend.

Ilkay is & always will be another true City legend. More than anything, he'll go down in City history as the captain of our treble winning team, and being an integral part of us winning 4 PL titles on the trot.

Both Gundog & Rodri have management material written all over them. I hope it's not goodbye, but aurevoir. City surely must bring Ilkay back in some sort of coaching/managerial capacity.

Love him to bits, but a shadow of his former self since he came back. Feel guilty saying it, but almost glad he's gone to stop pep putting him in the starting lineup at every chance :-(

I don't get the negative shit about last season. We will never know whether he was not the player he was, given to massive injuries to the back line, lack of the best player in the world and injuries to the creative players, or a key player.
Was he a burden or a reason we made 3rd and champions league. Was he a big wheel in the cog from the last years, or an insignificant one?
For me his important goals and showing up in big games will always make him part of one of the best teams in the last 15 years.
A proper legend and should be treated so.

I for one, will be glad he came.

Buckle up guys.

Edit

class act on and off the pitch. Even last year there was some worthy contributions. Very hard to replace as he stepped up in the big moments. Very very hard to replace.
