I think it’s the profiteering rather than the piracy that’s got them in bother. Like fake designer goods, this sort of thing does fund organised crime.

They're not dodgy streams though, we can all find those on the internet, but at the risk of stuff ending up on your kit, that can do harm. You pay a relatively small fee (compared to what sky/bt want) for not having that risk.

Well yeah, it's 'profiteering' that's the issue. Still a bollocks sentence when you see some of the sentences for violent offences and people who are actually dangerous to the general public. If someone has been illegally profiteering, fine them enough to take everything they've ever owned.

I guess, but if organized crime gangs are going to do something, I'd rather it was ripping off a few games of football and selling a few dodgy Chanel copies than selling drugs or trafficking people.
