Again I need to stress. The police had NO involvement in this. The Premier League paid the Trading Standards Dept. to investigate it, the PL paid for the PRIVATE prosecution.

That said, I don't have a problem with that, the problem I have is the sentence of 11 years. Drug dealers, major traffickers, don't get that. Armed robbers don't and as stated before the average sentence for manslaughter is 6 years. This whole farce is to show people who is in charge. It is a disgrace.
I'm going off what the media stated, that it was a private prosecution. Further, Trading Standards can get search warrants from a Magistrate and therefore enter houses and seize goods. A power of arrest is a false indicator. The TS would have served a summons on the men forcing them to court.Trading standards don't have any powers of arrest. So who would have joined in with the raid to arrest them if not police?
Also, I doubt that Trading Standards would have been responsible for prosecuting the one caught with porn on his laptop.
