I'm now Expecting an Attacking Display Against Birmingham

so am I

I want 2 up front and both Silva and Johnson starting

Get beat if we do - Ming will sit win the midfield and break - just accept that 4 5 1 is played for a reason what i do agree is that we have to move the ball about much much quicker

and a formation that allows us to do that. I won't go into last night as it's already been covered on multiple threads.

I want to see Mancini and city play 4-4-2 on Saturday. I want us to ditch the 3 holding midfielders and set up with an attacking team, with goals in mind. Anything less against a poor to average Birmingham side would be criminal.

This weekend we have a chance to either overtake or to draw level with Arsenal and United, and to extend the gap on the clubs below us. Arsenal are away to Everton and United are away to Villa. Both tricky games.

3 points is a must against Birmingham. Anything less would be......(fill in as appropriate)

Bolloxs - playing a 4-4-2 would not work - done it before and we failed. However i think we will be more positive because and give one of the 3 a bit of a license to roam more - for me i would drop Yaya and give him a break and play Milner in stead (that is his better formation) team would be as follows:-

Hart

Boatang
Toure
Vinny
Kolorov

DJ
Milner
Barry (or Yaya)

AJ
Tevez (although think Ade will play as Tevez need a break)
Silva

City fans need to start being realistic - there are no easy games in the prem anymore - Ming will sit and hit us on the break - we committ forward too many to quickly we will get beat and once again Bluemoon will be in meltdown.

wait a minute! Since when does 4-4-2 not work? Lol! And it's failed? Double Lol!

We're playing Birmingham FFS, not Barca. They will come and stick 10 behind the ball and defend like their lives depend on it. We need to get behind them and get as many players into the box as possible. Having Yaya, Barry and De Jong in middle and holding against Birmingham is not the answer. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.

Keep the back for as it is. Play Tevez and Ade up top, and play Jonson on the right, Silva on the left, with De Jong and another next to him.

To say City can't play 4-4-2 successfully is ludicrous.

4-4-2 and 4-3-3 can both work with the right players.

The biggest problem for me is the yawning gap between the midfield 3 and the forward 3. Not one player out of those three runs forward and supports the attacker and that is what is imperitave in such a system. Yaya Toure is being asked to do alien things and it just doesn't suit him. He is a protector of the back four. Unfortunately, so are his two comrades.

Milner has to be given an extended run in the middle three and Johnson and Silva extended runs outside of Tevez.

If Mancini wants to prove the doubters wrong about him being negative, then he has to do so in this game. There really is no more ideal opportunity and there really is no excuse not to go for the kill.

This obsession with 442 needs to stop. Its completely insane.

Mancini will switch up the personnel a little and loosen the attacking restraint and we will be fine.

Yeah think Tev will definitely not play, he was clearly not fit last night and needs a rest.

So with Ade up front we want good service into the middle, with that in mind I would defo keep Milner out wide as his crossing is very good.

I'd like to see Silva played just off ade with AJ starting on the left but swapping at regular intervals with Milner.

Fucked if I know what the actual set up will be though but I'll not be happy sitting through another bore fest and brum will 100% set up with ten behind the ball

To get a fully attacking display against Brum will depend on one of 2 ( maybe both) things. First a Brum side that doesnt set up defensively, no chance of that so second is an early goal to open the game up.

I am going for the early goal and even then the attacking might be more of quality breaking.

can't believe some of you are still advocating Barry's place in the team - he offers nothing in there. NDJ does the holding job immensely well and if we replace Barry with a more forward thinking player, Yaya can play his role he played with Barca - just roaming around doing whatever the f*** he wants - like Essien at Chelsea.
If we were then move Silva into the midfield more centrally, he can create from there; you can then have 2 of AJ/SuperMario/Milner on either wing, with Carlos up top.

Hart

Boat
Toure
Vinny
Kolarov

NDJ
Yaya
Silva

AJ
Tevez
Balo
