In support of Hughes

Interesting post.

Well, it would've been had you not forgotten that Hughes played NO Brasilians today. None. Nada. Zip. And look at the result.

When did we look like we were trying to build towards goal beside putting in some crosses?? No midfield play, just straight to the wings, basically. Straight out of the "Blackburn '101' play book"...

How could he play those that were ill/injured?

I think you miss the point. It doesn't matter why they couldn't play. Every one of Hughes supporters seem to blame the Brasilians for the demise of the team.

They weren't there, so what's the excuse for the non-performance??

Hughes claimed on 5Live that Elano was not part of the team plan for today. Does anyone know what the plan was?

I also agree that SGE [and consequently the squad] became disrputed when Dr Toxin began to 'mess about' earlier this year [seems like foreverago now] although the sale to ADUG was a neat trick. Who knows what Sven would have done with time or stability but he doesn't seem likely to return, although he does like chatting to Sheikhs, allegedly?

However, more realistically, the club should now appoint a holding Kinnear-esque manager until the summer [Venables seemed a sensible suggestion] when the open cheque book should tempt the best. With my modest knowledge of football, the Special One would be the obvious choice, especially as he is always banging on about how great England is [and he still has his house in London, doesn't he?].

Finally, the players have seemed shambolic and dispirited for some time. As extremely well paid professionals, it is right that they should bear some of the blame, although ADUG must surely now realise that the most important money that they now invest is in a world class manager. Who can say that MH shows any signs of being that, either in the next two games, the rest of the season or ever? I voted for 'Hughes Out' weeks ago but the time has now surely come. I also saw an eloquent post on how unlucky he has been, which seems to be true, but business is business so that the person in charge is always accountable. The account says bottom three at Christmas and so the outcome is clearly goodbye Mr Hughes. All the best but please go now, it would be best for all of us, including you.

i am getting worried now that team today probably picked its self due to circumstances beyond the managers control BUT where was the passion, commitment , togetherness, i did not see anything he did not even attempt to try to change anything during the game no subs other than the one he had to make, i am not one for changing all the time god knows we have done that enough in the past but the situation is worrying we need to get a win sooner rather than later but i do not trust this manager.

To be honest I'm sick of saying the reasons why Mark Hughes isn't the right manager. But the main one is this. For the first time supporting City I am going to get the chance to see world class players week in week out. World class players cannot play football when the ball is in the air all the time. When did you ever see a top club's keeper repeatedly punt the ball up the pitch? Let me explain, everytime we use a long ball, unless it's very good, we are giving up possession. At best we are creating a 50/50 ball. That is why most top managers train their teams to make the players without the ball available for a pass and the player with the ball to pass it to them along the floor where possession is less likely to be surrended.
This is the most worrying part of Hughes management tactics for me - and it's bloody awful to watch. It needs two players to make a pass.

I've defended him as far as i can, that was not acceptable, as much as I think we should be planning for the long term, it's the short term that worries me. Time for a change I think in order to sure up next years Premiership campaign.

Your post implied that he left them out for a reason personal to him Bigga.

I was stating that he had no choice.

Elano was dropped.

He is our manager and deserves our support. What if all these sky watching kiddies get their wish and we get 'the special one' or some other manager who is 'great on Fifa' and they lose 3 games on the bounce? They'd be calling for their heads too, they do not have a clue what being a 'supporter' of a football club is. Those that have come on here and made posts calling dunne and hughes on a personal level are idiots and should be treated as such.

He deserves a full season and a full transfer window with the £££ before we judge him......at least!

I get where you are coming from but I am very worried by our prospects in january now. It was going to be a struggle coaxing top players to the club if we were in mid table but with the current situation who in their right minds would want to sign for us now?

I was until very recently with you that we should stick with MH but our recent performances at fulham, racing santander, everton and WBA have been absolutely woeful. There is something seriously wrong in the dressing room and I don't know if MH knows how to deal with it.

I can understand we've had injuries and I can understand we are carrying a large amount of dead wood but as a manager you have to work with what you've got. MH's Blackburn side were efficient if not particularly pretty to watch but our team are a shambles at the back, lacking in physical presence and mental toughness and, after a promising start attack wise, unable to find a cutting edge.

My biggest concern with Hughes is he seems to have simultaneously alienated both the existing squad and the new brazilian contingent at the same time. There seems to be a toxic atmosphere which makes me think that perhaps Robinho's agent made him think he was signing for the other manchester and the little brazilian is trying to lead a dressing room revolt in the hope we go down and he can move to another team.
