Incident at Liverpool Title Parade May 26th

A basic question for an incident I’m catching up on. Your Langley links must be far too complicated for this ill-researched Manchester lad to comprehend.

Unsure of the tone of your reply, it’s just a horrific incident that we should all feel for.
The sky news report of an hour ago reports the driver as being a white male
BBC had the detail reported, Sky just seemed to leave it open.

Following the Southport issues, surely certain parts of the media need to be straight with the facts.

I do worry that media outlets are happy to allow things to escalate, all to give them more coverage in this 24 hr news cycle.
Sky’s online news report posted an hour ago reports the alleged driver as a 53 year old white male. Did you see something different?

In this day and age, a 10 mile parade just seems incredibly difficult to organise and police with 100% safety. For me, in a time when cars have been weaponised with regularity, it just seems quite excessive when you consider the amount of side roads that would be swimming with 1000s of people along that route.

This isn't apportioning any blame, by the way. More just surprised that the police in Merseyside allow this event through at this scale.

Be astonished if he doesn't get close to a 15-20 stretch for that.

It's worldwide news. Court and jury will go hard.
Not a chance, maximum sentence for serious injury by dangerous driving is 5yrs. No matter how many people are injured

Yes. A question I asked elsewhere.

Horrific incident and we could have all seen similar at ours. Seen a bloke get knocked over and then smack the driver. Could’ve got really tasty but I think most who seen the incident realised that it was a mistake on all sides.

Looks like a bad accident. Hopefully lessons will be learned if there are any

deliberate pared reporting last time (Southport) led to dangerous conjecture and mob rule... you can believe the authorities actually learned a lesson from that, or that they purposefully kept it from the public domain last time
What would they have said if he wasn't white man?

It's a bit fucking weird, pushing the fact he is a white man.

They will know if he was a Dipper leaving the parade or, if he wasn't.

His actions today resulted in mob rule and from then on the situation escalated disastrously.

Nobody comes out of this well, the planners, the Police, the fans and him.

I’m amazed less serious incidents of this nature don’t happen more often at many matches.
Over the years, the number of arseholes who think it is a good idea to drive a car down a road with half a mile of a football stadium is staggering. Less serious disagreements (in terms of both crowd and driver reactions) are semi regular events. But that still leads to arguments and car banging sometimes.

At City, the current flashpoint for this is grey mare lane, where for some reason dickheads, including taxis park up less than 20m from the ground, in a dead end (as the end of the road is closed) and then attempt to do a 3 point turn and drive through the crowd, as thousands walk down the road,
Buses too!

When the Great Manchester Run is on the Mancunian Way and Deansgate is closed off to traffic, as well as other major city centre roads close to the race route. No traffic is allowed. As an example of an event being organised well.
When we've had our parades, you couldn't get a vehicle anywhere near those watching the parade, we also don't "parade" for miles and miles round the City on often straight roads, they're all City centre based, on short roads with lots of turns.

Even on an incident like that though mate?

Could have an attempted murder charge on 20 + people
Think in law attempted murder needs to be pre meditated or at least the intent to kill has to be there for that charge to apply. Could be wrong.

We'll have to wait and see.

What makes someone wakes up and thinks I’m going to drive through a parade with total disregard for human life’s,

Absolutely horrific. The only thing that matters is that everybody is fine

Nobody should give a flying fuck about Anything else it’s just about wishing everybody is safe and well
