Incident in Openshaw

I owned a BSA meteor for about 25 years, upto about 6/7 years ago.It was a decent air rifle for it's price, but I've looked at some new ones online and they are absolutely amazing, but so are their prices ,so I won't be buying one anytime soon.
I had an air pistol back in the 70s, which I purchased from Hurleys in Piccadilly. I ended up shooting my younger brother in the face( just above his upper lip) when we were fucking about in Alkrington Woods . Luckily he wasn't seriously hurt, but it didn't go down too well with our Dad and Mum ,as you can imagine.
They made me take it back to Hurleys, and I exchanged it for a white leather Casey football.
I never fucked about with ANY gun after that incident,it really drove home how much you have to practice firearm safety at all times.
I bought a super powerful air rifle last year, it's very accurate too. Last fall when I was sighting in my .270 for hunt season, the wind was howling from the left side. I set up at 100 yards and the air rifle whilst obviously not perfect like the other was grouping within four or five inches

How did you end up a drug dealer then?
A little story - We were on holiday in Dawlish and called into see the wife's sister who lived at the end of the M5 just past Exeter.
The brother in law called home in his ARV (Armed Response Vehicle) and showed me the 2 rifles and 2 pistols locked in a gun safe under the rear seat.
Cut along story short, 3/4 weeks later me and the wife were at the youngest daughter parents evening at primary school, and I was looking at some of her written work.
One of her stories was about Uncle Colin having guns under the back seat of his car. (No mention of him being a policeman).
Her teacher must have thought that Uncle Colin was a drug dealer or a bank robber, but fortunately never brought it up during parents evening. PHEWWWW !!!

I had a shotgun certificate for 30 years (and owned a semi- auto and an over/under during that time) and also did a bit of pistol shooting about 30 years ago,so I have a rudimentary knowledge of shooty things .

Edit. After reading the last but one post, I need to point out that I am not,and never have been a drug dealer !!
;) ;)

I'd have thought the fact most of us don't have much knowledge around firearms was a good thing.
Not sure it's a good thing. My wife hates guns and is always bitching about mine not being put away well enough ( fair enough). I have insisted that she at least knows how to use one in case she ever had to

Yes but most of us here have no access to a gun, probably the majority have never fired one, nor have any wish to.

He’s too busy killing coons mate.
Are you sure that you wouldn't like to re-phrase that statement !!!

LOL. I was given an American hunting book from the 1950s ,when I was a teenager and one of the full page photos had the phrase blazoned underneath it -
" Coon hunting in the marshes".
It seemed a bit near to the knuckle to me even back then (late 1960s), I can't imagine that it would be hugely in demand in the enlightened 21st century.

It's weird, whenever I have friends over they all want to go shooting. I sight in my rifles before hunt season and that's about it.
