Got friends up tomorrow....their first time in Manchester....mate of wife's from work and her hubby. He runs a small micro brewery and we are taking him around a few pubs he may get to put his beers in.....Marble/Knott Bar, City, Bar Fringe, etc...(dirty job, but someone etc....)

Anyhow, we are looking at an Indian later, but don't want to tie to a time and book into say EastZEast, Rajdoot etc as too inflexible.....
Friends have heard of Curry Mile in Rusholme and fancy there, however, last few visits there have been disappointing for us....poor quality food and rushed 'cattle market' service and the like. So hoping for someplace in town itself that can just 'drop in'??

Any suggestions?

Akbars on Liverpool Road mate. Great food, nice place, good atmosphere, good prices and no need to book cos its huge and you just have a drink while you wait for a table to free up.

A quick beer in the Britons Protection and a quick wander down there. Perfect.

Akbars is superb and, even if that is busy, there is another Indian restaurant right next door which is supposed to be pretty good too.

why not try EastzEast? near to Ibis hotel. across the street there's a bar.

Cheers.....but Eastzeast tends to be a 'book the table' place....as said just wanted one can turn up at when ready to!

Akbars looking good.

in Curry Mile, there's Taj Mahal (or was it Rang Mahal?), and if they're in for a different treat, there's one store selling Indian audios with blaring Indian songs, a guy there makes the best Paan ive ever tried. ask around. worth a try.

im not Indian btw.

Personally I'd take Zouk over Akbar's, but both are good and I'm not infallible.

a few times i've been in EastZEast on nights out and theres been quite a number of free tables.

They have a bar on the entrance floor, so if you do wait you can just have a sit and drink, then proceed to go downstairs to your table.

Highly recommended :)
