there is absolutely no way he should be playing for brazil
It was what seemed an innocuous collision with the Inter goal keeper, he will have missed 12 games if he comes back for Spurs.Don’t think he’s played since the Inter game. I remember him getting treatment on sideline in first half around groin/abductor area. He played on but didnt come out for 2nd half
Pep plays with a reduced squad due to the fact he doesn’t like players who have not been selected stinking the place out effecting moralHave you see that the FIFPRO top ten list for having played too much since 2018 is dominated by City players?
“You can’t legislate for these injuries” well in my opinion you can. We stood still last summer despite knowing that the majority of our squad have played too much football and were likely to incur injuries.
I’d say our available players are very close to that red zone too.
Pep’s obsession with a small squad is biting him on the arse
I’m not sure having to play kids is a bonus mate. It’s a bonus for them, but not for the team… it’s now a necessityPretty sure the management will/have reviewed the events with regards to recruitment as the season has unfolded.
What they never do is make kneejerk decision's especially with such issues as recruitment.
Planning for injuries is impossible, so having a squad that under most circumstances will be able to cover will have been the plan.
A reluctance on Pep's part to have a large squad is also a factor, and hindsight is always easier to apply.
The current number of injuries/absences for whatever reasons does appear to be out of the norm.
An unexpected bonus could be an opportunity for some of our kids .

Hope you’re right mate.Opportunity might have been a better phrase in the circumstances.
Who knows out of adversity................maybe we find a gem just waiting for the chance ?
I'm a glass three-quarter full person today :)
The flappers all tend to gravitate towards each other. It's getting a bit like the Match Day thread on here at the moment. ;-)
What's their criteria for 'played too much'? Do you have a link?Have you see that the FIFPRO top ten list for having played too much since 2018 is dominated by City players?

Yeah, true. But the only two we seemed to show any interest in getting were Bruno G and Paqueta. And we weren't going to get Paqueta because of the gambling issue. Pep showed no interest in replacing Alvarez, but its in the 6 and 8 spots that are where we needed bolstering.Undoubtedly will be, as would anybody with a lengthy injury list but have to remember Pep asked for a small squad. we had space within the squad, the money and at least in my opinion, the need to bolster the squad in the summer and we chose not to with Pep saying he prefers smaller squads and that seemingly being the only legit reason why we didnt do more business then, so this is the result of what he wanted.
Yes I understand that concern.Hope you’re right mate.
I’m not concerned about players getting injured, I had enough myself; it’s the ever extended recovery time that’s concerning me really.
Yep, he never gives anything away really. Don’t blame him, keeps the opposition management guessing.Yes I understand that concern.
Hopefully, we the injured players are not too long in their recovery, and able to get back into the squad soon.
I never understand Pep's messages on this topic - far too clever for me .

Watching his conference today, I think we have more than "13 players" available for tomorrow, we'll see tomorrow though.Yep, he never gives anything away really. Don’t blame him, keeps the opposition management guessing.
And feels fair enough to be a little extra cautious given all the other injuries. Better to be pulled out of a half than potentially aggravate something and be out for multiple games. I’m sure the medical staff - given the other injuries - doesn’t want to risk anyone. In Pep I trust. We will have no worries.
As for the youngster being taken off by stretcher, he's a youngster give him some slack. I remember being at an away match when Micah Richards was carried past us on a stretcher and I'm pretty sure he was back playing in the next game.
He's only young and we don't know what the medics said to him on the pitch before they carried him off.
Well said EBIn Pep I trust. We will have no worries.

That’s a super interesting (and nicely presented) document. Thanks for sharing. If you scroll down the page below, you can download the 2023/24 Men's Player Workload Monitoring Report.
They do show absolute minutes, but don't use that as the main criteria, but it does look at how many times they played, recovery time etc.
There are case studies for Alvarez and Foden too.
