Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Haha. I suspect Pep has got into the squad and given them some sort of ‘choice’ about internationals.

Grealish has gone from celebrating his call up to withdrawing.

I bet it’s the same for a lot of them.

Clubs need to take a stand against the proliferation of international fixtures. You can’t blame FIFA, UEFA etc for wanting more seats on the football gravy train with more qualifying fixtures and extended tournaments and, absurdly, turning friendlies into the nations league. If I ran those organisations I’d see more matches for what they are - a license to print money using talent that somebody else pays for.

So the clubs should draw a line in the sand and tell star players we will decide on a match by match basis whether we’ll allow you to play internationals. If you don’t like it you can fuck off and play for Sunderland or Grimsby for five grand a week and be free to face Armenian taxi drivers or Andorran waiters 15 times a season in glamorous international fixtures.

If the big clubs stuck together on this we’d soon see the players fall into line
Meanwhile, back on planet earth...

He's not making it up.

Grealish and Foden have withdrawn from the England squad.
Obviously - are you just being obtuse by swerving the point I made in bold ie he said in his post:

Grealish has gone from celebrating his call up to withdrawing.

Where are the photos of him celebrating

As has been pointed out already many times, If you’re called up you have to be assessed by England medics before you can withdraw. Jack had started light training so had to be assessed.

He had the absolute temerity to repost the announcement on his Instagram stories. Which he does every single time he’s called up.

The reaction from some City fans to all this has been absolutely beyond pathetic.

Don’t understand it! Some of our fans are just weird

To be honest I didn't swerve anything as you didn't make a point, So me being "obtuse" is far from the truth. Also you highlighted the "full sentence" not what you have just done in the above! As you can see from the image attached.Screenshot_20241111_205729_Chrome.jpg

All you said was "WTF why are you making things up?"

You didn't clarify whether that was "Celebrating his call up" OR "Withdrawing from the squad".

So I presumed you meant "Withdrawing from the squad", Which Grealish did.

I'm sure the original poster was stating that Grealish was celebrating his call-up by Grealish posting on his Instagram or Twitter page off himself celebrating in an England shirt with the official squad that was called up.

Which jorunalist is going to make the inevitable article about an unusually high number of City players withdrawing from international duty to plant the seed into the minds of the brainless??

It will happen and i guarantee they will fail to mention we had a full 11 minus a keeper that was either unavailable or not fit enough to start at Brighton.

Wow. You’re being very defensive

Which is it "Obtuse" OR "Defensive"? Anything else you want to throw out at me...

I simply made a point of "Grealish withdrawing from the England squad" thinking you hadn't seen that he had done, So if anything I was trying to be helpful.

Yet you started to throw the "obtuse" word around which I find very offensive. You also just avoided the whole post I typed out "Because you know you are wrong"...Instead  you swerved all the points I've made just to say I'm very defensive.

Of course I'll be defensive when I was trying to be helpful and get called "annoyingly sensitive or slow".

Maybe be more clear in the points you are trying to make next time.

WTF? Why are you making things up.

Eh? He shared the squad list to his Instagram account which, in the modern footballing world, is celebration.

I presume you think the choice of the word ‘celebrating’ meant getting pissed. For some reason. But there we are.

Basically I was defending our players against unfair criticism by another poster. Sorry that upset you.

I don't think he was being critical of Grealish, All he said was "Grealish has gone from celebrating to withdrawn from the squad"...

Anyway, You "defending" a player against criticism didn't upset me in the slightest, As I've said already you throwing the "obtuse" word around offends me, Especially when I was trying to helpful.

I'm not kicking the can down the road, We'll leave it at that.
