Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Can anyone confirm which of our players are on international duty now. I’m assuming that although he was called up - Jack won’t play

Ake, Akanji, Grealish, Walker, Silva and Doku should be going nowhere. Withdraw them all and make sure there fit for Spur

We don't have a choice these days - they have to go and be assessed by the National team doc.
It's criminal - and most of the above should be telling the doc "I've got x/y/z wrong with me"

Don't they have to report to be assessed if the injury is new. I'm sure I've read that Aki hadn't been included in the Dutch squad.

He has withdrawn, City sent him

yes FIFA recomend call ups are assesed by the national teams medics, still you can withdraw them as the rags did with ganacho last time and sent medical files over rather than fly him over to be assessed.

Any fool of a national mamamger can see our players are not fit.

I have an outlandish theory, which is probably almost certainly not true, that the injuries to Dias, Stones and Ake are actually relatively minor. They could have played in the last few games if they really had to, but Pep decided not to so they could pull out of international duty. He’ll use the next two weeks to work on a new defensive system for the rest of the season in training to mitigate the loss of Rodri, and we’ll see all three appear against Spurs. Wishful thinking, I know.

The ridiculous expansion of international football (most of it meaningless games) is undermining domestic leagues. I can't believe the clubs have allowed themselves to be bullied into this absurd situation. The players are paid by the clubs and the clubs make virtually all the money which circulates around the entire sport. FIFA and UEFA are commercial rivals who are just milking the clubs for their own purposes. This farce can only hasten the arrival of some sort of Super League. The clubs own the product (content) and have to have more control over their own products. International football used to be an elite level which was seen as the pinnacle of the sport. The number of matches was restricted and that's why it was elite. Now it is mostly pub-league football.

I totally agree with you and said this to another City fan the other day and he agreed.
I personally would love it if they were all given at least 4 or 5 days with no football, no training, just team building type meetings. Let them all relax, regroup and build their energy back up ready to get back in there on the 23rd to show everyone we are not in crisis we are thriving again. JMHO

I have compiled a table of minutes played this season. I thought it might be interesting.
If you find a mistake, please forgive me, I'm only human.

Kin'ell, sunshine.
Brilliant, but....
Go out and have a nice walk; a meal; a drink; a shag; (a wank if you can't find anyone to shag); read a book; find a good film on the telly; enjoy life!!!
:-)

Did Jack not get the message ?

I'm not expecting sympathy from the media but perhaps an acknowledgement that our current injury situation is pretty dire and leaves the Manager with few options

Compare this with the BBC's report of "injury ravaged" and "understrength" Liverpool winning the Carabao Cup Final last season

Salah Nunes and Jota were all out, but our entire defence from the CL Final Starting XI are all injured plus Rodri and Grealish are all out

All we're asking for is a little balance
