Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Fuck me... these injuries are demoralising

What the fuck is going on?

The worrying thing is, with this pointless club world cup, next season will probably be even worse
When you look elsewhere and the number of injuries they've all had, ours really haven't been that bad. Most of ours have come as a result of an intentionally small squad. Pep has finally acknowledged its a stupid idea that cannot work in today's schedule and we're beefing up the squad and will presumably continue it in the summer.

If you take away all the repeated injuries to the defenders that have been forced to play whilst not fully fit, we've not had that bad of a time, just been hit in key areas that we chose not to reinforce.

My Google doctor degree seems like a midrange abductor injury (Dias) is about a month. Hope his is less than average.

It is hard to hear whether Pep said adductor or abductor but I think it's an adductor. Safer to say groin injury.

It is clear that City's defensive structure is highly fragile this season. As soon as Stones comes back in, Dias and Ake go out. I get the impression that Khusanov is a very quiet boy but very determined.

City, even without Marmoush can score goals, but we are leaking goals. To get top 4, or to win something, we need to solidify the defence. I think our back 4 is chronically injured and hence this season rests on Khusanov. I put him ahead of Reis, because Khusanov has game experience.

It is criminal the repeat injuries occurring to the same players e.g. Ake, Stones, Dias, Doku and others. Gross mismanagement by the club. Bringing players back too early before full recovery clearly isn't working, it never does. Yet we persist in doing this. If we had let them make a full recovery we'd have been better off in the long run over the course of a season. Can't see how this pattern will change unless we bite the bullet and give said players a proper chance to rehabilitate.

Everything I read about Reis makes a point of bigging up his temperament - apparently well above what we'd expect for a kid his age.
Marmoush really looks the part.
Know nothing about Khusenov. Always find it difficult to judge players from Ligue 1.
All in all, massively encouraged by the transfers in

I also think quite a few times players were hurried back after injuries and ended up making the same injury flare up.

I am actually quite surprised that likes of Gvardiol, Haaland, Bernardo didnt miss a match squad due to injury yet.

That is now five times this season where one of our centre backs has gone off injured in his first or second game back from injury.

STOP BRINGING PLAYERS BACK INTO THE TEAM WHO AREN’T READY.

Are players generally just becoming softer?

When you think back to the 70/80's players would battle on with knocks on muddy pitches, yet today they cry off despite playing on carpets with tackles virtually banned?
There is no comparison between then and the intensity of football these days. Players are fitter and the pace of the game is much faster. They are like Olympic athletes. I started watching City in the 1960s. When you watch those games on Youtube now it looks like walking football. Pitches were terrible and tackles were stronger but pace and power was not part of the game as it is now. Plus the leading players are playing more matches, especially for their international teams.

Compared to other seasons we did in fact give players longer to recover properly, but this season the desperation to get a settled side we are rushing players back hence injured again added with the list of injuries we suddenly had all at once ..

I didn't know that but I believe it. I can understand why City wanted Dias to play because you saw the difference between the first and second half. I can't comment on what we should do but I can see that the defensive injuries are a huge problem for us. It is very frustrating.

Players from the past also had injections which were openly talked about.

Crazy times.
