Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Did we find out the extent of the ake injury?
City normally wouldn’t say anything until the next press conference, but from Pep’s post-match comments, it looks like Ake will be joining Akanji and Stones on our already crowded long term absence list. Maybe it would be good for all three to be given the chance for an extended recovery period, if it means no starts before next season, so be it. Better to go for the long term than risk early retirement.

Hopefully akanji can come back but I have serious doubts the other 2 will ever be injury free for a sustained period.

injuries have been simply outrageous this season, each week brings at least 1 or 2 more. Never known it this bad.
Too much football.

Greedy wankers who own the shares of clubs, greedy wankers in the boardrooms at clubs, greedy wankers at the governing bodies… not once was a manager, player or set of fans consulted over all the expansions and new tournaments.

Ílkay Gündoğan warned everyone four years ago;

Kevin De Bruyne said the Nations League is unimportant;

Rodri warned of a possible strike over too many games;

Pep Guardiola said there were too many games and too many injuries because of it five years ago;

Nobody asked for an expanded Euros, nobody asked for an expanded World Cup, nobody asked for the Nations League, nobody asked for an expanded Champions League, nobody asked for an expanded Club World Cup…

Yet it won’t be these that get binned off, it will be long standing things like we’ve already seen with FA Cup replays, eventually the EFL Cup will disappear, and worst of all the cunts will say ‘well reduce your league to 18 teams and stop moaning’ (when league football is the bread and butter for fans, players and managers and nobody wants to reduce league sizes and number of league games).

For me, I’d bloody love to see players start to retire from international football en masse. See what starts happening then.

Since season 22/23 his appearances have fallen off a cliff. In turn this created pressure om the other centre backs. I'm afraid JS is now just a highly paid liability who is about to hit 31 so his injury situation will only worsen

At a guess, I'd imagine a similar time frame to akanji/stones? A lot of strain will now be put on a broken Dias, let's hope he can take it. Have to use Reis more when possible to keep Dias as fit as possible and Gvardiol will probably have to play more as a cb with Lewis/Nunes/O'Reilly operating as our fullbacks for most of the run in.

Why the fuck have we been playing him withh a fractured foot and not having him sorted out straight away, rested then have him returning fully fit.

Our medical team make some odd decisions

comendable he was willing to play on, but at what risk, his bones never fully healing and niggling injuries occuring in the same area, really someone shpuld have said, he needs surgery and you will have to play the kids if all thee rest were out

Guess the positive from this is that it’s a fixable injury that shouldn’t affect him once he’s recovered.

Incredible that he’s played for so long with a broken foot.

I said after the Plymouth game that he hasn’t looked 100% fit for a while, got to be our worst season with injuries for a long time.

We will see Lewis khusanov gvardiol oreilly back 4 in the premier league
I was thinking this morning about how good it would be to go to the swamp with a back 4 of gvardiol, khusanov, reis + Lewis and come away with a win using a defence with a total age of 81
