Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Thirty goals in forty games in a “ shit “ season . Eighty four goals in ninety four premier league games and people claim we won’t miss him !!!
My dad says we play with ten men when hes on the field as he wont fight for the ball.
My dad played at a high level(uniteds stiffs in the early 50s) so knows his football but I enjoyed saying to him today that we should piss top 5 then now hes out.

Stones is engaged at @Eccles Blue abode, Akanji doing the maths for Swiss tv Countdown and Ake touring the best 5 star Piano bars of Europe and avoiding all the shit in the match day forum ;-)

She's got him chained to a radiator in her cellar.
I’m not daft, you’re not having him back! You just keep hurting and injuring him!!
You’re very, very cruel to poor little John Boy! ;-) ;-)

Imagine if he was actually clinical, though. He could (should?) have had at least two goals by HT on sunday. Using the modern parlance, I wonder how many "big chances" he's missed since coming to us; another 15-20, possibly?
3 goals actually. His penalty record is a concern

We might not miss him.

I know we aren’t as good as we were in 2018-19, but the best player we’ve ever seen in a City shirt (De Bruyne) was out for half that season and we didn’t miss him.

Kompany, club captain, leader of the team, missed nearly all of our greatest ever winning run in 2017 and we didn’t miss him.

Bobb, Marmoush and Doku up front. Think they would be good
Kev and Jack behind.
The lack of quality in that front three is a reminder of just how far we’ve fallen from our peak. They’d have been fortunate to get anywhere near the squad let alone the team

Are you aware of Marmoush's goals and assists in the Bundesliga this season? Bobb and Doku are 21 and 22 respectively and both have a very high potential.

I’m hopeful that Ake’s issue will be resolved. Seems like he’s played most of this season with a broken foot, so hopefully the surgery and rest will have healed that.

Who knows on Stones. Maybe his surgery has given his feet time to heal too. I’m not as hopeful on that, but his injury might be a blessing in disguise in the long run.

I think that as the same with Akanji

When Dzeko arrived from Wolfsburg we knew we were getting a top drawer striker, with Marmo’s we’re hopeful but nowhere near certain.

Doku’s got no end product, didn’t have it when he came, hasn’t got it now, won’t have it in 12 months time

Bobb’s an untried untested kid

I don't see the distinction you are making between Dzeko and Marmoush.

Doku is a young player who has the highest successful take-ons per minute of any player in the Premier League. That's not to be dismissed. Players develop. Remember Ronaldo, Salah etc. They all started with an obvious talent but were missing something. And Doku's shortcoming in assists is also down to the team, not just him. I know Bobb's a little inexperienced but I think his talent is obvious.

Haaland being injured is a big blow. No point sugar coating that. However, it just makes the Marmoush signing so good. Together, they will be dynamite as we have briefly seen.

The distinction being that Dzeko was the finished article, a bona fide striking sensation, whereas Marmoush has had a half decent season and a bit.

Take ons schmake ons. All that counts is end product. For every player who develops into a Ronaldo or Salah there are a hundred others who turn out like Aaron Lennon or Dan James, the odds are against Doku making it

Got to admit, I'm pretty concerned. We can't rely on anyone else to get the goals required. Only Marmoush has any kind of recent form from a goal scoring perspective. Hopefully Phil will find some form similar to what he shown last season and Kev will drag us to an FA Cup win and top 5 finish.
