Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Got to admit, I'm pretty concerned. We can't rely on anyone else to get the goals required. Only Marmoush has any kind of recent form from a goal scoring perspective. Hopefully Phil will find some form similar to what he shown last season and Kev will drag us to an FA Cup win and top 5 finish.
Tbh I can’t see us getting champions league this season and more so now . It’s been a clusterfuck of a season with injuries like never before but the management have totally dropped the ball pep included and it will show come end of the season .

It's now 8 weeks since Akanji's last injury and 7 since Stones went off in Madrid

Are these two definitely out for the season or was there some hope that they might return for the last few games?

I only ask because our cup run has created some fixture congestion towards the end of the season.

Nothing too specific but Pep updated yesterday that both should be back before the end of the season

If Grealish plays we have a chance of top 5, if not then I think its a lot on the other players and getting to the final will mean some 2 game weeks.
"If Grealish plays we have a chance of top 5"

We have a great chance regardless if he plays or not, sadly it's not as if we are going to miss his goal scoring prowess.

We might not miss him.

I know we aren’t as good as we were in 2018-19, but the best player we’ve ever seen in a City shirt (De Bruyne) was out for half that season and we didn’t miss him.

Kompany, club captain, leader of the team, missed nearly all of our greatest ever winning run in 2017 and we didn’t miss him.
Rodri.

I hope youre right re top 5, Im not convinced.
Grealish is always confident, runs with it and draws fouls.
Has to play tonight ready for Sunday imo.

I would without question play him on Sunday, he hates them and always is fired up in a hostile atmosphere.

I think the second half at Bournemouth showed passion and togetherness we have not seen this season, so good to see in this vital next weeks, CL is essential with a rebuild needed, no CL, no chance of the like of Wirtz signing.

Are you aware of Marmoush's goals and assists in the Bundesliga this season? Bobb and Doku are 21 and 22 respectively and both have a very high potential.
Bobb if we ever get to see him will take 3 or 4 games to get match fit. Doku has had almost 2 full seasons now and while I think he has done ok has clearly demonstrated he is not a goal threat on a week to week basis. To a very large extent our fate this season now rests on the shoulders of Marmoush. Personally I think we might need a sudden recovery of form from Foden and Grealish if we are not to end up empty handed this time round.

If we can't win the FA cup this year even with this injury crisis then we probably don't deserve anything any way.

Yeah I'd agree with most of that.

Marmoush has adapted quicker than expected, but then there's a big drop off.

For all his pace and trickery Doku just doesn't produce enough goals (or even half chances) whilst Savinho's best spell was on the left when Doku was injured

That leaves a huge void for Foden and the other midfielders to get us over the line.

Grealish would rather win a foul than shoot at goal which is great when we're trying to run down the clock, but otherwise a complete waste of time when we're so bad at set pieces

From the press conference tonight, a journalist said that Haaland had been to see Dr Cugat in Barcelona, and was there an update. Pep did not confirm that he had been to Barcelona but said he thought it would be 5-6 weeks. He didn't say 7 so I take that as a plus.

Apparently Marmoush was great at set pieces before we signed him, now he never beats the wall or first man
They must have the wall 10 yards back in Portugal! Latest night I was in line with the free kick and it looked the most distance the wall was 8 yards
