Injuries.

I'm going to take Pellegrini at his word on this. He says Kompany is going with Belgium more for moral support than anything else.
If he does end up playing any minutes then it's a bit disappointing tbh. I love the man but it'd be a bit of a piss take after his lay off.
So if he is fit, he shouldn't play because he missed the last club game?

If he's fit, as a City fan I'd want him to play because he needs games. He comes back in now, it'll take him a couple of games to be back to his best

No, I don't think he should play. He's missed more than the last game. His injury saw the beginning of our run of poor results and the back four have been a shambles without him.
Belgium should be able to win their two games without giving Kompany minutes. As a City fan I'd rather give him an extra fortnight to manage his calf correctly and return to us 100% fit.

In my opinion I think it's time for clubs to get together to make a stand for this. I think it should be written into a players contract that the club won't stand in the way of them playing for their country but if they come back injured and not fit for purpose then it hits the player in the pocket.
At the end of the day it is the club who pays these players millions of pounds but it is always the club that suffers. How ironic that towards the end of the Newcastle game we subbed silva and sergio to save them yet days later they are now not fit for purpose.
This could cost us the title, next round of cups etc whilst paying the best part of 300 grand a week in wages.
This might make a player think twice about playing a friendly during a crucial part of the domestic season against Uzbekistan or the jibrovian best eleven
Someone should be accountable
All in my opinion. :-)

It's all well and good us putting together our strongest ever squad but are we ever going to see a fully fit strongest City 11 play regularly?

Vinny, Yaya, Silva and Kun cannot have played many games together over the past few seasons due to injuries and AFCON.

An extended run with the following would take some stopping;

------------------- Hart ------------------
Zab --------- Vinny --- Ota ------ Clichy
--------------- Yaya --- Dinho -----------
Sterling ----------- Silva ------------ KDB
---------------------- Kun -----------------

Not a bad take on the situation Jayblue ,presumably FIFA arrange these breaks and fixtures. The fixtures themselves are laughable along with some of the teams in them but with TV deals they earn funds for FIFA or their officials ?.The players come back injured and in the end the clubs pay the penalties. Unless some arrangement is sorted it will continue.

any news on kompanys injury? being kept quiet and that's quite worrying. need him for the derby, its imperative
Last word was from Belgium coach who said he could be fit for their second game which goes against mp who said he has gone just to support them as he is not fit to play until after the break

Do you not think that may make players think twice about joining us? I do. Surely part of the attraction of our club is the way we treat our players?

Soon enough Sergio will come to realise that he can't please everyone all of the time and in order to prolong his career he'll have to say no to some matches.

That is a good point about players not wanting to join us. But do you really want to cheer on a player who thinks more about his country than his club. I realise it is important for players to play international football but it may make them prioritise the matches they play in.

Last word from the Belgium coach was that he's not fit, but he might risk him and sod the consequences if he ends up out for months as a result.

Didn't harm baconface much now did it.

Sometimes you have to make a stand even if the player thinks he right to go.

Clearly Kun wasn't.

We have suffered a horrendous run of injuries , but maybe our fellow title contenders should look at the league table , despite the team being decimated by injuries on a weekly basis we are top of the Premiership , we will also probably have vinnie , yaya , delph , kun , merlin ,clichy missing and zabs , mangala , nacho all with hardly any game time recently . But a victory against Bournemouth will consoldate out top position , if i was a fan of the rags, arse, chavs etc , i would be worried how we as a club , have coped with these injuries , because when we do get our first XI on the pitch , no one will live with us.

The squad is designed to cope with situations like this. All players need and deserve a chance to do their best. It's our job to do our best and cheer them on.

Be careful this is City. We only play Bournemouth at home? Maybe like we only played West Ham at home?

And we all know what happened there!!

I presume Belgium have now qualified. Any attempt to play VK would amount to a wind up by Wilmots. Vincent is not supposed to be rushed but should be allowed to recover fully.
