Injuries

Yeah,I saw the news feature with all that new sports science that city are involved in and my first thought was all the muscle(is it called soft tissue ) injuries we get. WTF? Could it be that the players see all that shiny new gym gear and can't resist getting stuck into some heavy weights, cos if so they need some supervision. Do they warm up properly? Whatever, it needs looking at.

Just saw a feature on North West BBC news highlighting new developments in physio, bio mechanics and so on, with city funding it along with MCC and MCR Uni.
This looks very advanced yet we have more injuries than clubs with a quarter of our facilities.

My only thinking is many players aren't really injured and City will just say Xxxxxxx is injured rather than being rested/rotated, stopping the gutter press from writing negative shit.

Could be true to a point.

All teams across the league have been suffering more and more from injuries over the last decade or so. As teams are playing more and more games and the level of intensity is higher than ever before it's only natural there's going to be an increase in injuries (specifically muscle injuries). There's going to be a point in the next few years where a change is going to be needed. Most likely an increase in the allowed squad size, although they'll no doubt do it wrong and slap an even larger homegrown quota rule in there that will in turn further increase the premium on homegrown players.

Someone will have the injury stats for other leagues world wide and other sports. My own gut feeling is that the footballers now are almost engineering level tuned for optimal performance.....things go twang more easily as a result. The amount of recovery time they have is limited which is the reason many think a winter break is helpful.

51 injury so far this season, way ahead of any other team & they are still competing in four competition's.
Well done Manuel Pellegrini.

people say with our squad it shouldn't be a problem but unless im missing something don't all teams have the same sized squad.granted ours might be a deeper quality squad but 51 injuries mean we have often been down to the bare bones leading to fatigue in the players not injured.its remarkable were still in with a shout

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed Vincent Kompany remains on the injured list but will "be back soon" and that a fresh injury will keep Eliaquim Mangala out for between three and four weeks. Wilfried Bony also remains sidelined with an inflammation.

WTF it's happening in training FFS????!!!!!!! how the fuck they pick us so many injuries ........our medicall staff needs sacking for player's sake..

It's getting beyond ridiculous now and with the amount of key games coming up it's not an ideal position to be in.

We need some players back and quick.

Patrick Roberts just set up 3 and scored 1 in a Celtic reserve game which I can't imagine is a great standard. However with the fixtures coming thick and fast and Navas and De Bruyne out for between a few weeks and a couple of months its looking like a daft loan now.

Unless the homegrown content through CT players that is. We should by now be in a better place to produce our own players with our Barcelona blueprint and our superior facilities.

It's not just the number of injuries, it's the severity of many of them. The whole squad has been injured at some stage this season, most for long periods and/or multiple times.
