I don't know what it means representing your nation Football in England, but everywhere it means pride and honor. Player takes a pride playing for their nation, even it means taking an injury if there a slightest chance to earn a trophy for their Country.

My points is, everywhere outside England Nation > Club in term of importance for the players.

Very true, English players on the whole always put club before country and certainly 99% of fans do.

If it's related to the injury in the previous match, it cannot be considered "unfortunate" as "shit" could -and should- have been prevented. I really really hope this is not the case, otherwise it's criminal. Both for the club and the boy, situations like this are blocking his progress...
