Insurance question for ' Bikers '

Insurance on bikes is a bit of a minefield in my experience. They all play the same game despite claims they are classic specialists.
I have to shop around on a regular basis, as they increase prices for no reason.
Just as an example, I pay 78 quid a year for my lc, and 100 quid for my gpz, both with agreed value, which is important if you have a total loss.
A moped will be a bit cheaper though, I imagine.

Avoid Bikesure insurance whatever you do. I used them a few years back , they were dreadful on the customer care front and charged exorbitant money to change a single bike on a multi bike policy. Stick to Carol Nash, Bennetts or Hastings would be my advice on the insurance front.

I'm with Hastings on the gpz.
A shout for one call, they insured my lc for 78 quid, including breakdown cover. That's basically free insurance, given that you'd pay that alone for breakdown.

Think it makes a difference what you're insuring and where you live as to who provides the best deals, my latest toy (xsr900) was cheapest at Bennetts by some margin, but its not exactly a classic.

Historic vehicle tax exemption, no MOT required (over 40yr old exemption) but you do need insurance, Adrian Flux is normally the best for limited mileage classic insurance
But you need to get dvla to reclassify as an historic vehicle in order to qualify for the mot exemption.

It will still have to be taxed every year even though it won't cost you anything or you will have to sorn it. Even though it will be mot exempt it is still your responsibility to make sure it is roadworthy.

I used to work for Carole Nash. They are proper specialists when it comes to classic bikes - they will also do agreed value on it too.
I've used Carol Nash in the past, but they used to try it on with increased premiums on renewal. Cheeky fuckers.
I don't mind a small increase, but they were taking the piss so off they fucked.

You are exempt from MOT and tax if you leave it outside the chippy. You have to register it with @Lavinda Past who has a lot of really old bike and chippy jokes and recycles them regularly.
