Mendy was pretty disappointing all things considered, the saving grace was he was making some great runs going forward and played a good pass to set up Griezmann at one point. France look really shit though right now for the most part. Mbappe playing like a better version of Rashford, make of that what you will.

Silva wasn't too involved in the first half with him playing out wide with the very shaky Odriozola on the right. Started to really come to life in the second when he moved to the left and got taken off just as he was building up a head of steam.

Tunisia seem very well organised at the back, and they have a decent counter in them. Could easily pick up points against England if they're not cautious.

I thought David was fairly good throughout, but you’re right that he was taken off just when he was starting to influence the match more in the second half. Most likely to conserve his energy. Very surprised Iniesta went the full distance, though.

I just turned on the France for obvious reasons and my opinion has not changed: France have exceptional talent but are prone to showboating and are too inexperienced. I just do not see them going far in the tournament. This is not a good US side and they are generally holding their own. Pogba stills looks like a liability against the better sides.

Yeah it's not like he did anything wrong first half but most of the play went through the left so he was less involved. Plus whenever the ball went to his side Odriozola tended to give it away so after a bit they stopped going that way for a while.

This match was probably a blip for Spain in terms of performance. Although we've seen plenty how breaking down a packed defence can be tough for anyone. France's problems are more symptomatic. Lloris is shaky, their defence is shaky, Kante's only good for running and tackling in this team, Pogba's head isn't screwed on properly, Griezmann is isolated, Giroud doesn't support link up play well enough, and Mbappe for all his strengths is still a teenager and it shows. So on that note France are my team to win the World Cup.
