International Matches | 4th - 11th Sept '25

In terms of deep understanding of the game, British managers have been off the pace for decades now.
I'm with you on this.100%.

Maybe one of the biggest problems in this country is the power of the media? When we have things like Sly Sports seemingly only interested in the one club, and employing so many ex-players from said club to fly the flag, subscribers will be led to believe that the Pisscan was a tactical genius and an innovator, years ahead of his time.
He was neither.
Then we have Fat Sam, Pulis, Dyche and the rest of the hoofball merchants sneering and deriding 'tippy-tappy' football, small wonder our game is stuck in the 70's.

I've been saying for a long time now that you could watch the highlights from The Big Match in the early 70's and the style of football played would not be out of place in the Premier League today.

English football is stagnant, fetid, and long past its sell by date.

Sadly it's becoming even more popular as teams are all defending in depth and using fast players on the break once they get the chance. Also bigger more physical players are coveted more than they ever were. If Pep could stop us being so exposed on the counters they'd be fucked.

They need 8 of the following 11 to finish top 2 in their groups to guarantee a play off spot (I think) - The teams above them are: Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, England, Norway, Wales, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden and North Macedonia.
And then when that happens is it 4 teams in a play off with 1 spot up for grabs?
2 semi finals and a final?

Not worked that but out yet
According to Wiki:

Sixteen teams (twelve group runners-up and four best Nations League group winners, based on the Nations League overall ranking, that finished outside the top two of their qualifying group) will be drawn into four play-off paths, playing two rounds of single-match play-offs (semi-finals with the seeded teams to host, followed by finals, with the home teams to be drawn). The four path winners will qualify for the World Cup.
