Last night when I posted the feed above, the ISS was in the dark. There were red, white and yellow spots and flashes going all over the place. Normally I'm sure the only thing you see in the dark is lightning. Maybe I'd had one too many.

If anyone is interested, and you are lucky enough to have clear skies over the next few nights in the UK, there will be some very bright views of the ISS.

Tonight (22nd) it goes pretty much overhead starting at 22:28, and visible for 6 3/4 minutes heading W-E, and again just after midnight for 3 1/2 minutes, starting to the WNW, and heading towards the SE.

There is a similar passage on Thursday evening starting at 21:40, again for 6 3/4 minutes.

Friday and Saturday have slightly less bright passages, after that its still visible until 2nd August, but gradually getting lower in the sky and less bright.

Is it because the highest clouds are about 10 miles up and the ISS is about 200 miles up?

UFO doesn't necessarily mean extra terrestrial, sometimes they could be 50 bad crosses in a FA Cup game.

ISS detector is a great app on Android to find where to look for the space station, it also shows the comet as well, and Elon Musks string of comms satellites also Chinese ones as well .

It crosses the UK skies every day, not sure about this thread though ;-) , I'm further south so we see it more often, as it doesn't get very far north on each pass, and sometimes it's in the daytime, so not visible, even when it crosses our skies, it's brightness varies hugely, and the time is different each day.
