Wow! What club did you support back in the days you supported France and which national team did you follow before France?

I hear Ivory Coast are good these days. Brazil should be a safe bet, but if you like City and African wildlife then Argentina is the one for you.

Their kit looks like a City kit crossed with a Zebra. It also leaves open an avenue for you to follow Juve.

Just started watching football and came world cup where I followed france...and then followed city when mark huges was manager ...

Understood. You started following France in 1998 when they won the a World Cup and had Zidane. Then you became a City fan in 2008 when the Abu Dhabi Group took over. Good timing on both accounts. Do you mind me asking what club you followed before 2008, and do you still have a soft spot for them? It must have been weird the first few times City played your former club?
Nopes..not in 1998 ...i was only 10 then :).....I followed france in 2006 world cup when zidane head butt incident happened...wasnt much into domestic football then, only followed cricket....few of my mates in higher colleges here in india used to follow PL and most of them followed manu/arsenal/liverpool...I tried watching few games of manu and found their 1-0 victories boring ...and I used to get irritated by arrogance of fellow guys supporting united.....then started supporting city whenever they used to play against them ...soon take over happened with new players coming in and I seriously started watching city play and then became lover of this wonderful team :)

Wouldn't it be easier to stop acting like a cock trying to trip the lad up and just offer a little advise that he asked for.

Following on what a few others have said if you've no intelligences to any national team there then I'd also go for Chile. The manger is as mad as a box of frogs and they'll be no defending for most part of the game, played at full speed all the way and at time they can play some decent football. I always try and catch them when they are playing and it's not often they change their style. With spain and holland in their group that will be a couple of open free flowing games.

The number of people on here saying "support your own country" is a bit stupid really. Yes, sure, you should support your country, but when England went out in the Euros last year, the number of people who proclaimed that they were going to follow Spain for the rest of the tournament was probably only matched by those who declared that they hated the England team from the start and therefore were going to support Spain right from the Group Stage.

any team that our clubs players are in so Argentina spain Belgium ivory coast (not allowed call them cote d'Ivoire on here) England France and Brazil(but only if scolari wakes up and starts playing dinho)

-- Wed Dec 11, 2013 8:46 pm --

good man, welcome on board.

If you've still got some residual feeling for France I think I'd stick with them. They should get through their group and probably make quarter-finals, and then who knows.....Uruguay have beautiful shirts so they're a good shout. Chile are a good call but I cannot see them getting out of the group, and if they do its Brazil in the last 16. Stick with Samir and the French.

How do you support another countries football team. that worse than being a rag, okay okay its not but its friggin hardcore plasticness. I watch other nations and enjoy the football sometimes but support, thats just weird

Anyway

Argentina

Us Indians don't have a prayer of making it to the World Cup for generations to come, but we still love the tournament (as everyone does I think, except some wonky Americans?) and want to be a part of it. For that reason many of us get behind someone elses' national team. This can be for any number of reasons, the attractiveness of the players, attractiveness of the shirt, past success, Afro-Asian solidarity, whatever. Back in 2006 when I wasn't so much into football I supported Germany just cause they were hosting it and I thought it would be nice for the host to win, not really knowing how much of a superpower Germany is in international football. A few years back though I became a hardcore Gunner and now will just be backing teams with any significant Arsenal contingent- so England, France and Germany. I'd kind of like to see a Brazil-Argentina final though.

Why Arsenal?
