Interview with Hillsborough Victims Mother

Was halfway through a post when my internet went down about an hour ago (which really pissed me off but I expect it on a Sunday these days tbh) and have lost the thread now but it seems to have degenerated into a slag-fest anyhow! Maybe some other time.........

Keep with it FS. Been a great thread so far....apart from the abuse that seems to have kicked in from just one poster.

Yeah pal, you found me out.

one word "****" i can only come to the conclusion that you are really young and dont understand or yer just a idiot(rag)(i think the latter),horrible little man.

You are an example of the recent change in this site for the worse. You disagree so start name calling. I suggest it's you who is 'young', be it physically or mentally. You joined what, a week ago? You're more likely to be rag than any poster on here. Fuck off you beligerent little twat.

strange how trouble followed the scousers around ... was a shame that people barged in and the police could not be arsed controlling them.. kids were crushed and 96 people killed but like others have said it could of happened at most grounds just unlucky the scousers got it. I want standing up to come bk but in more controlled way.
As much as i hate the scouse bastards people taking the piss out of hillsbrough is shocking. If it had happened to city utd would of took the piss big style.

Why, thats almost compassion from you scottyboi, you big girl you ; )

Oh, and utd do take the piss 'big style' btw

mackenzie, I will make my post soon, just pissed me off tonight when I was halfway through a quite long post my ISP decided to cut me off and by the time I got back on I'd lost track. Don't really like to pollute a City forum with other clubs stuff but I do have my reasons for being here (on bluemoon) and this subject is not going to go away (20th anniversary and all that) so bear with me.

P.S. Is corky a rag?

I'm not entering the debate, but I just want to say this.

After Hillsborough, a big chill went through me. I could remember the situations where a big crush could have happened. I remember thinking at the time 'it could have been me'.

I remember leaving Maine Road and being squeesed so tight, my feet left the floor and I floated out of the gates.

I remember, after a cup final at Wembley, being crushed in a tunnel whilst trying to go home on the tube. Knowing how crowds reacted then when it 'kicked off', how much worse would the crush had become had those that were trying to get away from the 'action' pushed forward?

I remember a cup game at Maine Rd, standing in the Kippax with a big crowd, City scoring a goal, and being pushed in the back so hard I flew down the terraces into a crush barrier and broke a few ribs. The lads who pushed me were laughing their heads off.

I remember herds of angry young men trawling the terraces, running all over the place and selecting their victims on a whim. I have seen fans get booted and thumped from the top of the terraces to the bottom, and all the while the victim, wearing the same colours as their assailants, have been angrily protesting their innocence. It made no difference. They didn't move when they reached the bottom.

I love football. I can just as easily watch a game on the park while walking my dog as I can watch City put 6 past Pompey. All the crap I have seen as a fan over the years, and by crap I mean having to have a fight, when I don't want one, by having my ribs crushed, when I don't want it, by being concerned about being crushed, when I just want to go home.

All you want to do is watch a game of football.

Nobody deserves to die, just because they love watching a game. And that is what it is. It is a game.

It may be an important facet of our lives, but you would'nt really want to die for it.

No one deserves an early death. However it is caused.

There were a lot of mistakes made that day by the police, but they are not the only ones at fault. The Liverpool fans who thought they could turn up without a ticket and just barge their way in must take some repsonsibility for Hillsborough too.

Not wanting to have a go at you but this is part of the problem and the reason why the Government(s) have got away with a whitewash. During the disaster, this is what the police (David Duckensfield - who was in charge that day) told the press and Graham Kelly of the FA. Drunken ticketless fans forcing Gate C open. One of the first questions that they asked the families when they came to identify the bodies was "How much had they had to drink". The fact is, that because so many coaches were delayed, the alcohol intake was actually less than on a normal match day. There were not too many fans in the leppings lane end, ust in the centre pens, and Gate C was not forced open, but the police ordered it to be opened. The myths around the Hillsborough disaster are many, but that is what they are - myths. This has been proven by the Taylor report who totally exonerated the supporters, and in fact praised them for their actions, especially in the treatment of those fallen. Many people have the same opinion as you, and this has been the fallout of the Sun's disgraceful headlines and the lies the police told in the immediate aftermath to cover their own lack of control.

The result of this is that 20 years later, the facts of what happened have not been heard in a British court. The 3:15 cut off time is vital. It was not only the cause for the crush, but that given usual response procedures, many lives would have been saved. As the article said, we cannot learn from the mistakes if they are not recognised.

It could easily have been any other club, and in fact it was only by Luck that Tottenham fans got away without fatalities in 1981. That even resulted in Hillsborough not being used for Semis until 1988.

I understand why people think what they do. It is hard not to given the lies that came out - mud sticks and all that.

If you want to read more, there is a document called Hillsborough for Dummies. It is totally factual and can be backed up with evidence.

excellent post Andy.

Well done andy for telling it and promoting the work of a good friend of mine.

Piston nikki's been to loads of games up and down the country and has even been to several man city games, standing on the kippax with me and my mates. She knows her stuff.
