Iran shipping conflict

You might think differently if there was a genuine petrol/diesel shortage and the prices started to rocket.

This conflict is all down to Trump - Iran were on best behavior under the Obama nuclear deal. Now they don't a F#### and will do whatever to destabilise and drive up oil prices. Expect this to go on and on as Trump will never admit he was wrong to start this conflict.

Got it spot on there. Playing straight into Mr Farts pants. Iran were behaving until he started.

Yep I get that but my point was these guys flying our flag yet not paying taxes to help out.

I have to admit - I dont know how it works with who covers who from a merchant shipping / Navy protection perspective but I guess if the oil is detined for us we have an interest in making sure it gets here.

Do you know minimum wage laws do not apply at sea?
There are UK registered ferry companies paying crew £1.50 an hour.

For me trump needs a sabre to rattle for his supporters, to con them into thinking he is a great american hero.

He tried it at first with N Korea and got played at his own game by Kim who unexpectled didn't bite but played along imho and so now he has turned to Iran as an alternative bogey man nation he can try and look tough on.

Watching what’s going on there and the interesting fact is that many of these ships although British are registered elsewhere for tax purposes, so therefore aren’t usually escorted. Part of me thinks sod them, if they want to dodge taxes they don’t get to use our military paid by the tax payer to protect them. Maybe stump up some cash if they want protection.
It is British registered as far as I can tell. It’s on the Isle of Man register which is a component part of the overall British register and is not a flag of convenience.

Looks like the US “influenced” us in intercepting the Iranian tanker in Gibraltar which has provoked the Iranian response in the gulf. Anyone might think this is part of a plan to get us to abandon the Europeans and dump the Iran nuclear deal and put ourselves firmly in the Americans’ pocket and against our European allies.

Exactly. Can’t spoil the ‘special relationship’ can we. Trying to drag everyone in by calling on their ‘allies’ to help defend shipping when they caused the problem in the first place. Iraq all over again. The problem is we will be mug enough to follow. Will we never learn - God help us when Blow Job gets in.
