Iraola, Maresca or Alonso

I was going to put a list up with Pep on top. I want Pep to sign a new contract more than I want anyone else in our dugout.

Next in-line would be Enqrique.

I don’t want Kompany yet, I want him to enjoy himself in the Bundesliga and not feel like he left there too soon. See out his contract to 2029 and then if he’s ready and wants to and still seems good enough, for him to come then… but I’d still rather have Pep until he retires or Enrique if Pep leaves.
It has always been a good pathway that, the ex Bayern Manager coming in to take over.

Pep.

Why do we have these conversations. Why don't we all just change the narrative to why doesn't Pep stay here for 20 years and do what Fergurson did. There's nowhere better for him, if the club and Pep agreed to it then there's even less pressure on him. Just keep rolling along building the dynasty of Manchester City Football Club.
I've said it all along and I'll say it again, I say I'll say it again! I think Pep stays for another 2 years(at least) after his contract is up. He loves it here, despises the media and he's got the starting of a fantastic young team and gets no aggro from above. Pep stays.

Also other than Paisley following Shankley (which was a long time ago) I can’t think of an example of a great long term successful manager following another in our league, in my FOC lifetime
So true.

There’s definitely a sentiment in management circles that it’s potentially damaging to follow a legendary figure. Taking over a club when the legend’s successor has failed is invariably a better career move.

How many clubs last three managers all won the PL?

Alonso plays a 3-5-2 system, i dont see that at city.

For me it should be whoever has a system thats built for the squad we have at the time, for continuity. Not the shit show we've seen at other clubs not too far away of chopping and changing management, systems, players, staff, oh and the leaky roof.

Not sure why we need another thread but

Enrique
Kompany
Alonso
Iraola
Maresca
Enrique
Kompany
Fabregas
Iraola
Alonso

Think Fabregas will be a better manager than Alonso in the long term. Granted Alonso had that madness of a season, but he’s pretty rigid formation wise.

What a dead weird time to even be having this conversation. We're in a title race and going for a treble. I'm not even thinking about who our next manager is gonna be.

Well Joe Fagan did OK following Paisley as did Kenny Dalglish (in his first spell).

Don’t recall Joe Fagan being the good for that long, 2 years maybe? but anyway that’s not the point, the point is how rare it is to get one long term successful manager following another, and Fagan wasn’t long term

If, just if, Pep's decides it is time to enjoy the sun, who would you choose out of the three?
Oh dear…..
I think I’ve realised I’m so out of touch that these types of questions wouldn’t ever enter my FOC head….
Anyway, to answer your question,
1st choice, Pep
2nd choice, Pep
3rd choice, Pep
Sorry if it doesn’t answer your theoretical question.
An older type of bluemooner like me deals in the real life scenario rather than the imaginary world.
Yes, I accept it’s boring.
But, it’s served me well for more years than I’m willing to admit.
Good luck with your questionnaire.
