Stevie Ireland looked back to something like his best when he came on last night. I thought he played very positive and it will be good to see him play like this regularly again. Started to prod and probe away and made a few good bursts from deep. We missed Irelands attacking intent and instinct to go forward a bit last night and reminded me how important to the team he really is,because when he plays that way then the opposition midfield have to think a lot smarter than when playing against two side ways passers in the middle....Well done SUPERMAN now lets see the real Stevie Ireland....

I was very impressed with him.

I think away from home at some of the better sides, we need to play Barry and De Jong to contain the opposition but maybe Ireland can come in and play off Adebayor. Not sure how well that would work but it's a nice dilemma for Hughes to have.

I used to think that way but after last night i began to think that if we have two hard workers down the flanks, like bellars and tevez and SWP then Ireland should be allowed to play with Barry or De Jong in the midfield and give us that creative edge

Totally agree - Stevie has been a few good passes and tackles away from regaining last seasons form. Last nights performance will give him a real boost and he will be chomping
at the bit for the wigan game now, confidence will be sky high and he should start given
last nights display.

Glad to see him back in form, he's vital to us as we don't have anyone else that remotely gives us what Ireland does, our midfield looks unbalanced without him.

Slight overreaction. He came on as sub and tried to thread a few passes through, a lot however didnt get through..

Not "superback".. people get too carried away with him.

Bit harsh, he's our only midfield player who plays the 'killer' ball, De Jong and Barry are terrific players but they aint the most creative players.
It's one area where i felt we needed to strengthen in the summer and it didn't happen, an in form Ireland is vital to what we hope to achieve this season.
