irelands villa debut

And on a similair theme,we also know now why Hughes sold Dunne !!!

Fuckin hopeless today,at fault for quite a few goals, was a legend at City, but only because he was the best of a bad bunch !!! Oh how times change hahaha

Yep, the defence was solid as a rock under sparky once he had offloaded Dunne.

He didn't look great, but Villa were poor.

Also, in fairness he was siting quite deep for most of the game (obviously under instruction) - looks much better when he's allowed to burst forwards.

Not saying I wouldn't rather have Milner, as I would!

In Stevies own words - "The grass isnt always greener. James is in for a big shock at city"

I`ll say !

Seriosuly that was the sort of performance Stevie was putting in the city every game last season. Tahts why Mancini wanted rid !

Careful..you may get accused of tubthumping. lol.

He played exactly as he did for us last season, completely disinterested and just going through the motions.

whatever anyone tkinks of barton, when he has got his head on and focused he is a really decent player.

cannot help but think he should have done far more with his career, as for stevie, completely on the edge of the game, and it shows that the team needs to be set up in a certain way to get the best out of ireland.

out of the 2, barton was far more influential.

Villa were really bad but Ireland had a absolute SHOCKER! Ireland should not have been a direct replacement for milner because there different type of players. I believe irelands best position is behind the striker and he is not effective when he has to work back cos we all know about his work rate from last season.

Is he in bad form, or was he just in good form when he did well for us?

Maybe it's just because he had complete creative freedom, along with Robi, so looked better than he was. Now when he's expected to hold back a bit his game goes to pieces. Who knows, just glad he had that debut after talking all that nonsense.

Yes, if he was deployed in his preferred 10 square yards of the pitch and every match was a training game, he'd be truly world class. TBF, probably unfair to judge him on one match for Villa, where I assume the whole team were awful. I don't think we will miss him that much though in the long run.
