19 years a blue, does anyone frown upon Irish followers just cos we aint from Manc.
i seen a comment from forevercity earlier calling our country twats...

To be honest mate i've taken the piss out of Rags for years about everytime they interview fans outside the swamp before games they're always fucking Irish, Scandinavion or Southern!

Also i could never bring myself to support a club from another part of the counrty, let alone another country because i always see footy as a local pride thing (not talking about scrapping here neither, just in the literal sense)! Having pride in your city, the place you live, your fellow citizens and the footy is what brings the whole local community together as one! We sing songs about City, Manchester City, Manchester, being Mancunains and have pride in this! I just don't see how you can follow a club that isnt from where you're from it's just fucking wierd if you ask me!

I lived in Warrington for 3 years and worked for Warrington Wolves RLFC for 2 years coaching under8's-under13's rugby league, i got to go to Warrington Super Lg games for the 2 years and even 6 years on, when i now live back in Manchester again, i still go to watch Warrington now and again (maybe once or twice a season)! [WARRNIGTON IS 19 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE IN TIMPERLEY, TRAFFORD!] However, i do not consider myself a proper Warrington Wolves fan because i am not a proper Warrngtonian/Wire, and i never will be! So i dont pretend to be a big fan or proper supporter of them - i even feel guilty sometimes when i go to games in case ive stopped a proper local fan getting in to watch their team!

just because you don't understand it doesn't make it wrong.

I didn't just choose to support City. It just kind of happened. I suppose you could call it fate if you believed in that kind of thing, anyway I've told the story and I'm not on for telling it again.

If you are as proud of your City as you say, then you should be glad of the fact that people come from around the world to support City.

You're right, and im not saying it is wrong, i just dont understand it! It's like when Munster won the European Cup a few years ago at Cardiff/Millenium after losing was it 2 or 3 finals in a row, i was ruiting for them to win and when they did i thought to myself, im really pleased for them local fans who've been through the pain for them years in losing them finals! But i would never bring myself to support them!

Anyway, i dont have anything against our world wide support, it does show that we are a popular club which is great and i suppose their are so many fuckin Rags all over Ireland i suppose it drives some people to support City because of the shear arrogance and horribleness of Rags! But hey if you support City then fair play to you and if you're ever in the pub before a game that i go in you're sure to be welcome! But i still think you're a bit mad for supporting us!

evryone who supports City is a little bit tapped if you ask me! :)

The only football team in my area where I grew up was the one I played for. Believe me, I'd love to support my local team, if I had one. The reason people support teams where they're not from has been done to death - i've mates who are Forest, Derby, Ipswich fans, all of them Irish - for various reasons they were drawn to the clubs and are now lifelong fans. Same for me with City, 20 something years ago. Don't feel a need to justify it, and yeah - we feel the same about glory hunter rags over here as you do. It's not nice to mock the afflicted though!

Sdavros:

Wait until the tv fixtures are out and we can plan then. It's more than possible our first home game won't be a sat 3.00pm and with Setanta going bust the 5.15 game is probably a thing of the past. A Sunday kick off could be too messy with people working the next day.

yeah we are just in the initial stages of getting interest. obviously we will plan further when fixtures are out.

that's good thinking though Batman. Will i put you down as interested?

Because of the industrial revolution the whole of Manchester was re populated in the 1880's one look at your family surname, will tell you that people came here from all over the world and then back out again in this century. So it's only natural that the fan base will reach far and wide.
My dad is from Mayo and loves football, the Irish in particular love all sport. always have since they came to Manchester in the 1800's.
Genetic memory lol. could explain why fans support club's other than where they live, It's a multicultural city now and though I was born here and support City I can clearly see, why people from other countries would do the same.
