Is a 3 match ban enough for Nunez?

Agree, its total nonsense, and ex referees all talk about these hallowed unwritten rules. I'd fuck every single one of them off and replace them with Artificial Intelligence as soon as possible

Another good one, 'Thats probably a foul in Europe' does the Premier League play to different laws of the game I was unaware of?
They shouldn't but they do. Our officials were a year or two behind when it came to introducing VAR because they thought they knew best. That's why none of them went to the Russian World Cup. They use VAR differently to the other leagues. They've said 'no' to the automated offside system. It's arrogance of the highest order.

Right from the outset of VAR being a thing, PGMOL and SKY should've been talking to the Rugby League and trying to find out why it works in the Super League. Use any advantage we have over the rest of Europe. Instead, we have an organisation who believe they know it all. They are fucking useless and seemingly beyond reproach.

There was a documentary a couple of years ago on BT Sports about the referees and Michael Oliver was talking on it about "managing the occasion".

It's always stuck with me since that this way of refereeing is simply not fair.

Let imagine that City, Arsenal and Newcastle are in a three horse race for the title. Haaland, Gabriel Jesus and Callum Wilson are all one yellow card away from suspension going into the penultimate round of fixtures and the fixture list has thrown up a Manchester derby, a North London derby and Newcastle versus Bournemouth.

In the first 15 minutes, all three players dive into a challenge. The refs at City v United and Arsenal v Tottenham have a word with Haaland and Jesus respectively, recognising it's a derby they are reffing so decide to "manage the occasion". Callum Wilson though, is booked for an identical challenge because it's only Bournemouth that Newcastle are playing against.

On the last day of the season, City and Arsenal have their first choice centre forwards because they played derbies the week before but Newcastle don't have theirs because they played Bournemouth instead of Sunderland.

It's simply not right to "manage the occasion", just implement the fucking laws of the game.

Perfectly explained.

I think Lehman being sent off in the first couple of mins of a champs league final made refs believe it’s upto them to manage the occasion. No it’s upto the players.

I would tend to use the word 'manipulation' rather than arrogance! Don't inform the paying public what you're deciding and whether it fits the written LotG, don't let 'em hear your rambling and dissembling and, hey presto, we can fiddle the result our bonus earns us.

Says it all them turning down the automated offside system! If its good enough for the Champions League what's their issue with it? We'd have definitely avoided that farce in the Spurs Liverpool game at the very least.

Not sure that adds up. The Liverpool, Tottenham situation arose 100% because of poor communication. The technology wasn’t a factor.
