Is anyone better than us now?

It doesn't matter, either way. The point is - we're off to a flying start, and that can only be a positive thing for boosting self-confidence. A team playing with confidence will get even better results. Have we finally laid our relegation demons to rest? Is there really only one way forwards, and that's up?!

This is the best we have been in ~40 years, but let's not get carried away. The rags are still better than us. Even though the score was 3-2, they were far better than us - a bit like the game today (but we were the better team, obviously). We are expected to beat Bolton and Swansea to be honest. Bring this thread up again in January.

I thought a lot of that as well. Let's look at this again in Jan and see where we are. Swansea at home and Bolton away wasn't exactly the hardest start to the season. However, if we beat Spurs next week then I'll certainly sit up and take notice.

I don't think so.

steady - beating Swansea and Bolton is hardly world domination!........................so far,so good, but we're in the Champ League now, and we lost to United.
Let's see when we play a proper top side again.
Lescott is a worry.

So the Charity Shield proves they're better than us but the semi-final of the FA Cup didn't prove the opposite.

Once we have sorted out giving sloppy goals away and get that I really hate to say it utds will to win and ruthlessness,we will be the best.
Man for man I think we have got the better players than other prem sides, but yesterday we played some magnificent football and missed to many chances and conceded ridiculously sloppy goals which could of cost us when we should have been out of sight.
David silva is a joy to watch but worry if he gets injured.

We look good but we beat Bolton away last season and all the promoted sides at home.

Our fixture list has been kind though with

Spurs,Wigan,Fulham,Everton,Blackburn,Villa,Utd, QPR, Wolves and Newcastle
our next 10 games.

All home games are very winable and Blackburn,QPR and Fulham decent away win chances.

I see no reason why we cant be top after 12 games giving us the confidence to go into the Liverpool,Arsenal and Chelsea games.

It's not who is better... You can be better than anybody but when the mentality is not right you can lose away at wolves or norwich. Just try to win game by game and after a couple of games look at the table. It says nothing now

I've been away for a while but the old weaknesses of Lescott and Richards' positioning were still there yesterday. The rags are still better as a unit, but man for man no one in England is better.

Barca and Madrid would hurt us.

Chelsea with Mata and Modric could well prove to be better than us too. Early days yet!
What????????????????? When we could have Silva and Nasri and the rest of our team compared to theirs and the spine of our team aren't old knackers. And what department are the rags better than us? Our keeper better, defence possibly equal, midfield piss on them, frontline, ours is frightening. Slur alex can't keep conjuring magic tricks whereby they all believe that they are better than they are. The penny will drop one day that their club is fucked. Dipperpool, not as good, Arse on self destruct, Spurs shite, just watch them in their annual roll over at the swamp tonight.

Dzeko rocks, Silva rocks, Sergio rocks, the clown Tevez rocks, Kompany rocks, De Jong rocks, Hart rocks, Balo rocks, Yaya rocks. In fact, there's only a handful who don't completely and utterly and totally rock. Utd aren't better than us player for player and nor are any of the rest.

Get your rocks off!

I've been thinking about this question for quite a while now and personally, I feel that we are the best team in the land and all the world!

That's the community shield your talking about a game that did mean more to them (there reaction at nani's goal on the bench), a game that they had to win as a loss would have signalled for all the world to see that they are on the decline, a game that meant nothing other than local pride?
Last season the dippers hammered us prior to our semi at wembley, minds elsewhere whatever. I think the same applied at the community shield, minds elsewhere, possibly even complacency. We can only beat what is in front of us but I know this, the City of old would have lost to Swansea in their first premier league match adding to our comedy status and some player who hadn't scored for 40 seasons would have scored. The City of old would have been bullied off the park by Bolton.
We are not the City of old, we are on top of the league and I cant see us being anywhere else for a good few months, we have the squad and clearly from the way the players celebrate goals together we have a team.
