Probably better qualified than most to comment on this.
Unlike many self-proclaimed ‘Mancs‘, I was born in central Manchester and am therefore more Mancunian than plastic Mancs from Wilmslow who affect talking like Shaun Ryder. I consider myself a Mancunian, and always will. Anyone who says I might not be, can go fuck their mum’s ****.
On the other hand, lived in Birmingham for around a decade or so.
Genuinely love both cities.
Think Manchester is better for pubs, restaurants (other than the very top end) [apologies to
@urban genie], shopping (marginally) and profile. There is definitely more of a buzz about Manchester. And of course, there’s City x
On the other hand, Manchester is a fucking nightmare from a transport infrastructure point of view, and the architecture in Birmingham is discernibly better. Far more stunning civic buildings in Birmigham.
I think Birmigham is (marginally) safer overall, but gun crime is definitely worse there. Also, think Brummies are the friendliest people in the kingdom. Genuinely love them. Never got the hate for the accent either. Genuinely love that too. Think it’s a really friendly, warm accent. Also, think it is also the least racist city in the country.
Think they both have their charms. Love them both.
Not sure why some pitifully sad, insecure cunts obsess about ‘theirs’ being better.
Why can’t they both be cool?
