Is Eccles rough?

I am thinking of moving,

at the minute I am living in Denton and have been a Tamesider all my life.

Seen a cheap house on Bright Road in Eccles (if anyone knows it)

If not Eccles though i am looking all over Manchester, if anyone could tell me the black listed areas of Manchester I should definitely cross of my list of potential moving sites.

the middle of liverpool road isn't the most pleasant of areas but on the whole, eccles is nice. lived there 21 years. i'd say go for it.

Looks like Eccles is worse than Denton for theft and Denton worse for violent crime going off those stats. Obvioulsy the best bits of Eccles will be better than the worst bits of Denton and vice versa.

You're doing the best thing trying to find out from people who live there. It is in Salford so you might be better going on a rag forum and pretending to be one of those ;-)

Just had Bright Road up on 'google view' , it looks alright ......

Eccles has it's moments , but almost everywhere does nowadays!

The Alsatians have to walk round in pairs! lol, my mate lives there its not too bad really, and has good transport links with metrolink, M60 etc....

I spend a fair bit of working time in Eccles and it seems ok to me, friendly people etc.
Not as posh as Moston where I live though ;)

Born and brought up in Eccles,used to be very good,Bright St is close to the Asian community if i remember correctly.

much of it need knocked down and rebuilt, but basically its just a normal roughish town thats got a few nicer area's (monton,winton,elsmere park) but generally the rougher parts are full of scrotes and scallies who are either as hard as nails or pretend to be as hard as nails. The older community are a good bunch but thats the same in many towns in greater manc.

used to live in dane bank, moved to Irlam O'Th Height 6 months ago. Really quiet and a stones throw from town. Swinton is better than eccles mate.

my word you surprise me. i saw your name on the eccles thread and thought you'd slate it. i was all ready with a reaction about north wales being full of scousers. nowhere quite like grafton was there?

bright street is alrite, as mentioned alot of asian familys around there, all seem to be young families with younger kids.

theres worse areas in eccles, but it's not to bad there.

im selling up in reddish to move to eccles. it's alright round there. i was brought up and lived in longsight for 27 years and that is a shithole. eccles is a plus point as the houses are great value for money. everywhere has crime if you look for it..

Early 90's I used to live on Williams Crescent , just over the foot bridge on the way to the hospital as you were heading from the train station.
Full of student nurses living close by. Went to a few cracking house parties. My local was The Top House. Very handy for jumping on a train into Victoria. Happy days.
Been a few years since I was back down there.
