This post stems from the link on the "is harry bent thread" (rednap bent ?) on there exists a link to the isfootballfied blog. I am no conspiracy theory person and agree situations can be manipulated to suit the required opinion.

Personally I have been convinced for some years that there is level of corruption in the game. I have no evidence of this and have done no reaserch other than the usually keeping fully abreast of the game.

At best I think there is a huge amount of cronism amoungst the powers that and between certian clubs and that ALL referees favour certain clubs or players at some level (which may be subconsiously). At worst I feel deals are done between officals and clubs for " the good of the game" and how it is percieved in the press and across the world. Then of course there are the betting scams.

On finding the is footall fixed site I decided to look up the Wigan\ man city game in which mr bennet was the star. For me that game more than any turned our season and it has bugged me ever since. On that day we didnt play to badly but became more and more frustrated at each bizarre decision which went against us. unfortunatley the team seemed to lose confidence that day and hasnt recovered. BUT It appears there were some betting irregularitys for that match.

<a class="postlink" href="http://footballisfixed.blogspot.com/2008/10/pgmob-please-get-money-off-bookmakers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://footballisfixed.blogspot.com/200 ... akers.html</a>

I haven`t worked out how subsrcibe to the site yet but will doing even though some of it seems far fetched. I

We have no excuses for shite team performances , shite tatics, shite genuine decsions but it does make you think what other factors affect our leagiue.

.Trying to get away from the Old Toilet bentness - thats a given for me . Intimidation , awe of the migthy red turds, belief in the media hype Referees are compromised before they are even in the door.

I was really trying to get at football in general and how I think in the UK it is a crocked as anywhere but the media wont entertain the idea.

No it isn't fixed. There exists a certain amount of ineptitude amongst referees, and maybe the odd dodgy transfer deal, but that's it. Imagine how many people would have to be involved in the conspiracy, and if just one of them spilled the beans it would be a massive story. This is the problem with all conspiracy theories.

Also, it is telling that you have to pay the bloke who runs the Football is Fixed site £10 to be able to see all of the details. If he were that concerned about corruption, wouldn't he provide this information for free? My bullshit detector is going crazy. It's got scam written all over it.

agreed but for the sake of a tenner it may be entertaining if nothing else. Also where I agree there is an amount of ineptitude I also think more goes on than we want to believe. I think sometimes we dismiss things to easily.

Corruption in the the world's most lucrative football league? There must be enough fingers in the pie, worldwide. Not just skimming off player transfer fees, or the betting syndicates. Look at Serie A and the scandal that exploded there. Hard to believe that the financial rewards here are not enough to influence all aspects of the game at Premier League level. An official might not have a brand new motor in his driveway, but he can obtain a certain level of celebrity if he desires;)

Yeah it's like wrestling. The guy who writes our storylines writes down any crazy idea he can think of onto a pieces of paper puts them all in a hat and just pulls one out at random each weekend.

Apparently in the long term they have us down as the club who end United's era of dominance. We win our first trophy of the century by beating them in the Champion's League final in 2011 and go on to win the Premier League the following season. The next decade sees us win 12 major trophys, edging out United's 9.

To be fair this was just one of the possibles which could be pulled out of the hat. Another was that Frank returns to City after it is revealed that he only loaned the club to the arabs for 18 months and that we have 6 months to repay all the money they put in.

But what happened in Serie A was exposed. Things like that always come out. It's impossible to cover it up forever.

It's analagous to people who think 9/11 was an inside job. Somehow, The Whitehouse was able to organise and cover-up an enormous conspiracy and not one person out of the hundreds, or even thousands, of people that would have to be involved ever says anything about it, yet they can't even keep a blowjob secret.

I cannot accept that football is fixed. However, there is a problem with "the big four", referee's and The FA. It is only words or certain actions taken, but those words tell a story in my opinion.

I have just read that Evra has dedicated Sundays win to The FA! imo a clear two fingers to them regarding his ban.

The pressure put on referee's by that club and their manager is without doubt influencing their decision making. This leads to The FA, again imo telling ref's to get tougher, be stronger etc. which results in the other 16 teams, treated harsher in the following weeks.

On an aside, I have mates playing on a Sunday morning, who, if had copied rooneys outbusts towards the ref, would have been banned for at least 5 games and fined at least £35. In ratio to the PL, that stinks.

I beleive its only a matter of time before we get the rugby union "old farts" outburst by someone.

Anyone who doesn't think there is some element of corruption in our game is naive, imho. The Premier League is one of the biggest gambling markets on the planet and there has been plenty of evidence from other countries that criminal syndicates are active in seeking to fix results or that players themselves are not above taking money. One top referee is known to have offshore accounts. Managers will also buy players not because they are good for the team but because they get something out of it.

Bruce Grobelaar went on trial and there was no doubt he took money but the jury couldn't reach a verdict on whether he had actually thrown matches as a result.

Corruption has been proven in Italy and Germany so why are people so convinced we are clean?
- The Wigan game this season. Apparently, the Premiership game that was being investigated as there was compelling evidence of suspicious betting movements also involved Wigan (against Fulham a couple of season ago).
- Rob Styles' numerous dodgy decisions defy belief yet he's still refereeing.
- Clattenburg's suspension is supposedly over his business but does anyone remember some of the decisions he made in Liverpool's favour in a Merseyside derby a couple of seasons ago.

I could go on for ever but there's one example that always stands out to me. Just before the 2006 World Cup, a Croatian gang were convicted of fixing German games by bribing referees. Then Croatia were involved in that very controversial game against Australia in that competition with some bizarre decisions in their favour. However, people forget that in the previous World Cup, Croatia also beat Italy against the odds when two perfectly good Italian goals were disallowed. Oddly enough it was the same ref for both games and we all know the gentleman concerned.

And to answer another point, footballisfixed was free until recently but he first withdrew the blog then re-introduced it as a paid service for the full blog. He has restricted the numbers and is not accepting any more subscriptions.

Not sure if its fixed or not but I read a old 70's ref biograhy, Clive Thomas I think his name is, he said whenever he reffed at Anfield he got put up in a 5star hotel, car to the match ,lunch all things like that. Anyway in 1 partitular match he gave a penalty in the last minute to the opposition and cost them the match, next time he reffed there he got nowt.

I dont think football is fixed but referees especially at the swamp seem to be intimidated regarding match changing decisions like penaltys and sendings off.Rooney blatantly told the ref to fuck off and turned his back on him WTF that is a clear booking.Yet he knew to book Rooney that early in the game would probably result in him being sent off because he is a dirty and aggresive player. So he left it to spare himself the wrath of baconface and the crowd. The same stuff goes on at anfield and Stamford bridge but not as much as the rags.I think the main corruption is refs who bottle it and inept linesmen.Remember spuds goal at the swamp when Van der sar took it behind the line by at least 12 inches, again WTF..??

iv wondered this at times, wigan really was horrific

I've watched god knows how many football matches over the years and even if i wasn't a city fan i would of said the ref in that match was unbelievably biased. Whether its out of hatred for city or he's been bunged a couple of quid who knows but there was definitely somthing not right about that match.

I think it was South Korea that knocked Italy out of 2002 World Cup, because if memory serves it was in South Korea and like you said Italy had 2 very good goals dissallowed and I think totti got sent off for diving when he was clearly fouled. The bloke who then went on to score the winner was a bloke called Ahn and when he then returned to his club(which as it happens was a Serie 'A' club) he got the sack, Perugia I think. Anyway it stunk and appeared very bent
