Is it FFP, or are we doing something wrong in this window?

Genuine question, and not being spoilt brattish as I am not moaning we haven't bought anyone (aside from Rodwell), just a little surprised?

Other teams seem to be going about their business and making some decent transfer, whereas we don't seem to be doing anything? What do people think are the reasons for this?

Are we simply terrified of FFP? Are we happy with our squad and just not in for anyone? Or is it that we aren't going about our business in the right way, is someone doing something wrong?

We have been linked with Sinclair, but still haven't wrapped this up. Maybe we are just not letting any leaks at all, but this doesn't explain why we have been so quiet in the transfer window so far?

Like I said, not being a spoilt brat, or moaning about it, just asking questions as I am a little surprised. Never thought we would see an influx of players this summer, as it wasn't needed, but did think we would get 1 or 2 top players to help us kick on in the Champions League, especially as we are now Champions. As I have said before, I don't think there is a place for standing still in football.

I think it's a series of different things. Mainly about FFP as we need to make sure as a club we are making a profit. However we've needed to get the likes of Adebayor, Santa Cruz and others off our books, our wage bill has been well to high and also allows us to bring in younger talent for the future. I think cause of these issues its taken us a while.

We don't really need that many new players though, we've got a very strong team.

Financial "fair" play is an absolute load of bollocks...can't understand why the club is bending over backwards to accommodate an elitist organisation that has continued to criticise our club on countless occasions over the last 4 years...they are all scared shitless of us,pathetic twats had to invent ludicrous rules to protect the moaning establishment...they dominated in a free market but when we try to do the same it's not fair...well boo fucking hoo...fuck them all

Sheikh Mansour is probably fed up paying very high wages to players who are not playing. Who can blame him?

It's called competition. The big clubs don't want to leave the top table. The clubs on the cusp, say Chelsea, us, PSG etc etc want to ease the pressure on them whilst not putting everyone's nose out of joint, the rest are scrapping for their lives.

It's dog eat dog at the minutes and it's like Battersea Dog's home out there.

When you have a WORLD CLASS SQUAD there are very few players in the entire world who can improve it. Against that backdrop, we have spent A LOT of money already and FFP has top be in the back of their minds. However, I don;t think they were EVER worried about it, because they ALWAYS had this buy world class now and cultivate world class young talent for later. Ergo, it makes sense that we should only be spending money (and time chasing) on one (or possibly two at most) world class player(s) and quality young prospects who can immediately fit into the training squad.

After watching Rodwell against Soton, he looked at home, and certainly did not look out of place, in the team. He will bed in nicely this season and COULD be a star for the entire next decade. Throw Razak into the mix and we could ALREADY have the primary two DMs for the next generation, to be dovetailed into the Barry, De Jong, Milner, Toure mix over the next couple of seasons.

I like your optimism

maybe we already have the best squad in the league and find it hard to find players who improve us ?

Correct, you could also add "at the right price", no need to pay stupid prices and/or wages for ordinary players any more.

Oh and there's another week yet.......

It has nothing to do with FFP IMO all has to do with having a full 25 man squad of players or as near to being full as permitted by the squad regulations and we have to sell a player before another can be added to the squad.

Blame maximum 25 man squad with different rules for CL and prem league.

It has quite alot to do with FFP, also the players we are after are not available at a price we are willing to pay

After winning the Premier League and competing in the Champions League, City probably gained an extra Thirty Million last season, in Prize money and TV Revenue alone. To stand still is suicidal, but equally, to spend for spending sake is just as ridiculous.

In the last two transfer windows thus far, we have replaced Onouha and Adebayor with Jack Rodwell. Santa Cruz will probably disappear next week, but I don't think anybody at the club envisaged the re-emergence of Tevez.

In the end it all comes down to price and value. Marwood is an easy target, but I find it equally galling that I learn more about the Guidetti situation from the Feyenood Manager than the one in charge of the club that I've been supporting for more than Forty Years.

It's fairly certain that Mancini prefers the pace of Sinclair to the impact and often complicated style of Adam Johnson. However we can't keep wondering about Suarez and Rasak on the one hand and then complain because City aren't buying more players and thus reducing their chances of getting a game.

As for FFP nobody, including the media really understands what is and isn't included. It will be intersting to hear Platini's reaction if PSG win the Champions League this season.

I am convinced Marwood as directed from above is trying to shed the "money bags" image where every club is taking the piss whether we are trying to buy or sell a player.
We brought it on ourselves in our rush to the top and now we must rectify it.

IF we don't sign any more players this window: a) we'll probably show a much better than expected improvement in our finances for FFP purposes; b) lay down a marker that will not pay silly prices any more; c) still win the league

"There are two things going on. One, a general view of Arab investors, and two, a whole hierarchy within football where there is a group of clubs that fall within the hierarchy and the clubs that fall outside don't have a seat at the table and shouldn't even demand one."

As Rammy said its to do with the CL and league rules regarding squads. I'm not going to get into it but this was discussed in the quiet thread yesterday evening at some length. We have to sell before we buy and it isn't because of money. It's that simple.

i wouldnt worry about ffp....there will be a loophole somewhere, someone will of found something...psg and chelski are spending like there is no tomorrow..chelski just bought some spanish right back as well..
