Is it time for the sack?

A defeat and the anti-Hughes brigade are out in force!!!!

Why doesnt Robbie & Elano play for us like they do for Brazil???

Simple really. Brazil V Italy was a meaningless show game played at half pace on a near perfect surface between two teams packed with players who are technically better than most of ours on the ball.

Today the game was played at 100 miles per hour, on a cabbage patch of a pitch. City were playing without two regualr players (3 if you count Dunne), against a team with a massive point to prove after their manager getting the bullet.

They are not a bad side & today they were the better team, we will improve. We have a few players who are still settling in & in De-Jong's case adapting to the pace of the Prem.

As for Robbie, he appears not to be able to adapt to the Prem & the hurly burly of away games, unfortunatley as we still have a reasonably light weight squad in terms of quality replacements he has to play in these games.

Its not Hughes fault Logan came off his post for the 2nd goal (In fact he's recognised that we need them which is an improvement!!!), nor is it his fault that Bridge got skinned (again) for the 1st.

I'm happy with his aquisitions in Jan & I'm sure that he will get it right given time.

We are roughly on the same points we were last year after we won at the swamp & as some of you will remember (A Lot wont as your too fickle) everyone was fairly happy!

If MH can bring a centreforward & a right back in over the Summer, in addition to the return of Petrov & MJ we'll start going places.

Rome wasnt built in a day. Have some patience!!!!!!!

Hughes WILL get it right, of that I am sure!

I agree that there are no quick fixes, you have faith, good for you, but...

couple of points, he must have known that a young player like logan is liable to make exactly that kind of mistake, and, errr, he was the one who signed bridge. oh and yeah if the squad is threadbare, why didnt he bring in more players? of course we need a centre-forward, we have done since he took over. he put all his efforts into signing RSC, but failed, two transfer windows wasted on that front.

Fair points I agree. However the fact that we have such a small squad shows why Logan is getting a game. He's not got anywhere near a prem start under Sven or MH (In fact Sven brought him back from loan & played Willaimson insted) so I think maybe he isnt going to be upto the required standard.

As for Bridge I cant understand him, he appears to make mistakes & we always seem to get punished for them. I'm sure he hasnt caught City-itis already & hopefull is just a little rusty, it doesn help that he has to mainly run the left himself with cameo's from Bellamy.

Yes we have failed with buying a centre forward, however I dont accept its two windows. In Aug there were other areas that needed addressing (No right wing last year, no defensive midfielder, full back as Vedran was off, Centre half cover). The cash didnt come into the club until the last day of the window. Yes he had Jan & I think the powers that be put all their eggs in one basket, expecting both Kaka & RSC to come. That didnt happen but I'm sure the same mistake wont be made again.

zab could have played at right back with gelson in midfield, or de-jong, ireland, elano in midfield with caicedo up front and bellamy on the right (my preferred option).

and it is two windows. we pursued him in august, garry cook made this clear at the time.

We've tried Gelson time & time again (Another of Svens inspired buys....NOT) and he's simply not good enough. Maybe Hughes sussed this & thought the kid Logan couldnt do any worse.

To be fair my Gran couldnt do any worse than Gelson & would prob be more composed. Zab's been doing a sterling job in midfield so I dont see the point in disrupting the team too much....

Can you pause for a minute and think about what you're writing? There was no money in Summer, and and 3 over-the-odds bids weren't enough in January. You could only criticise the guy for not looking elsewhere when it became apparent that FSA insisted on taking the piss.

Dale, good post mate.

Shocking display and I do think discussion should be under way for change.

The question is can Hughes with time change this? I think not, he had plenty of time to imprint his philosophy on the team. That performance shows that there is something wrong in that philosophy. It seems to me that Mark Hughes is an excellent coach. He focuses on fitness alot, which is nice to hear from a fan's perspective. However all of the top clubs have a tactician at the top. Look at Benetiz, Wenger, O'Neill and even Moyes. They play tactics and strategies.

We had nothing to day. Now I know this will anger alot of people, but I am just sick of loosing to struggling teams. We are good at home, but that is not enough. There was no real motivation or spark in the side.

A good manager is an active manager and from what I saw today Hughes's best action is moaning about referees decisions.

I am just not confident with Hughes and this is coming from an ex Hughes fan.

There you go its been said and I accept any criticisms of my opinion with counter points and not ad hominems

I fear this piece could be also be described as ad hominem

dont be so bloody patronising, of course i have thought about it. there was money in the summer. there was a bid made in the summer. it's documented fact. check the quotes garry cook made at the time. there was also money for kompany, zab, SWP, of course.

i'm not criticising him for not looking elsewhere so much as saying, there was a clear issue... sign a centre-forward. whatever the reason, the issue was not adressed effectively. there was ample opportunity to do so in august AND in january. the failure to do so has cost us repeatedly.

Didnt 'we' have a certain poster on here who gave a little insight into our owners thinking? Maybe that person (not mentioning any names) could give a tiny insight into there thinking - understandably this may be shot down in flames and the good ol people will pass abuse my way but i am just passing my thoughts!
And on Mark Hughes his whole mody language IMO of a man who is deeply frustrated and smacks of desperation - my thoughts for what its worth!

Of course it is time for him to go. The guy has spent over £100 million pounds on a team that seems to roll over away from home. We have lost to Pompey, Stoke, wba, bolton when they where all on bad runs. Its up to hughes to motivate the players and also use some tactical nous. Having won once away from home this season it is obvious that playing 1 up front does not work. Why not try 2 up front? It is so boring and repetitive watching city away. We dont create anything and we are not good enough to keep a clean sheet. Would rather watch us have a go and get beat. Also what does de jong bring to us and kompany is never a centre half.
