Is left back really a problem?

I thought he was disappointing... eye catching runs were few and far... I'd like to know the stats on his direct involvement in goals against us. Maybe its just something i noticed that made me bias...

Disagree, I thought he was our more consistent performer all season, and got better the longer the season went on.

We need a equivalent of Zaba 2011-2014 as our LB. Unspectacular yet solid but with a heart of a lion and the same passion as that of fans.

Don’t forget ake can and IMO will play Lb a lot next season. can see him being used as a inverted fullback much like walker.

we haven’t replaced David Silva yet and we are short at lw/striker, these are more of a concern then lb IMO

It’s a problem because 3 average ones does not equal 1 good one, unfortunately. We tried that theory out V Lyon trying to make 3 CBs into 2 decent ones

It’s a big problem but not one the clubs looks like being able to solve due to 1) not being able to shift what we have and 2) time, effort and funds

Weakest position at the club alongside a right sided CB, solve those 2 positions and we are sorted.

To be fair there is a lack of quality in Europe for left backs. Of the top of my head no one jumps out as World class. There doesnt seem to be a marcelo or Ashley Cole type around. The best we could hope for is alaba, to be fair a change in club might re ignite his hunger. He is a natural leader and organiser and knows all about the "pep" requirements.

On a plus if we got him our defence looks class as fcuk

Eddie/steffan best keeper and back up in probably Europe.

Walker/cancelo perfect blend 1 quality defender 1 quality attacking fullback.

Koulibaly or kounde/stones potentially solid

Laporte/ake not much drop in class if 1st choice injured.

Alaba/mendy world class and decent. Have hoped mendy would get back to before his injuries but its not looking likely now unfortunately. Probably will get sold next season and replaced by what he was pre injury if anyone jumps out.

We needed a left back 2 and half years ago and we are still here struggling . We could have signed the lad that went to spurs and also we could make arsenal an offer for tierney who is class . Stones and mendy are not good enough for us .

Cancelo would be my first choice followed by Mendy. Cancelo showed enough last season to warrant a chance
