Is Manuka honey worth paying extra for?

How easy is it to build your own beehive and manage it to ultimately provide you with free honey? I reckon it’s a really nice little hobby and your beekeeper uniform could double-up as a suit for fencing or you could use the front visor as a sieve.
My brother in law has tried it and his colonies just ended up dead
 
It isn't "just honey". I buy organic honey from a beekeeper in Daisy Nook. Wonderful stuff, far better than the bog standard Rowse and the like. The cheap stuff tastes like it has sugar added to me.
Can't beat honey that's been freshly wanked from the bees by the beekeeper
 
And from a science persepctive it does have some procen clinical uses when applied on the skin to aide healing, very limited research though. There is zero evidence that eating it does anything.
Mrs KS bought some for our cat; having recently had a leg amputation his wound was not healing. She applied the honey and BINGO, wound healed up immediately.
