When i used to leave my computer (laptop) it would just go in to stand by mode so when i came back i would just click the start button and it would fire up...
Now i seem to have to re-start it totally every time i come back to it, some times it comes up with a message resume failed hit any key, so i do and it does nothing and i have to go back and restart it!!
I have have a horrible feeling its heading for the trash can, or i loose my temper with it and drop kick it out of the window, anyway anybody with a little computer knowledge who can advise me on this it would be greatly appreciated and might save the death of my PC!! ?? Thanks!!

give it the good old clear out routine, delete temp files remove all unneccesary crap, defragment and all that jazz. then go into your power options and make sure all the settings are still correct. also make sure yu havent got anything too resource heavy running when you leave it to do its thing.

Cheers!! a friend defraged my computer for me once and i carnt remember how he did it if you could just give me a simple way to do it that would be fantastic!! Thanks again!!!

Start menu - all programs- accessories- system tools- disk cleanup. do this first

then
Start menu - all programs- accessories- system tools- disk defragmenter

Cheers guys its starting up ok now but i wouldnt say that the de-frag has speeded up my re boot still slow as fook any options for sorting this out?

no idea how you do it but there's a thing where you can choose what programmes start up when you start the computer. so deselect the unnecessary programmes and it will be much quicker. it does work, i've seen it done. hopefully somebody knows how to do this, as i need to do it too.

start menu, then click on run, then type in msconfig and hit enter. you will then get the msconfig utility, click on the start up tab. there you will see a list of programmes that are loaded at start up. some of these are neccesary and need to run, but you will find a lot that you dont need and can start when you need them rather than every time you start the computer. uncheck the ones you dont need, such as real player , msmessenger quicktime and any other programme you dont need running from kick off. a word of advice tho, dont disable anything you are unsure of, you might need it. googling anything you see but are unsure of will help you decide which to stop loading at start up.
